I’ve been a Decred stakeholder since 2018. 

Months after Decred paused its bounty program over the flood of AI-generated reports, a consensus inflation bug that had survived since launch was reported and then exploited on mainnet before it could be patched. Whether an LLM found this specific bug is almost beside the point.

In 2026, a project built on engineering rigor should be using the best models available to relentlessly red-team its own consensus code. Instead, the culture still feels too certain of its own correctness to seriously question its foundations.

I did leave behind a few ghosts in the machine…an experiment if you will. We’ll see what they do with it.
