Decentralization and web3 have started to improve many problems and are bringing new opportunities and ideas to the creative stage. But we are still a long way off from releasing the full potential of the network around these ideas. CoOwnCaster is an experimental approach to release the potential of the network and effectively rewarding participants for their contribution. 

Farcarster participants have significant value to contribute to early-stage projects. Founders struggle to get traction with their ideas. By collaborating we can get projects to critical mass, and by co-owning we all get to share in the upside.

CoOwnCaster exists to bring the power of co-creating, collaborating, and co-owning to the new decentralized, onchain world we are now entering.

CoOwnCaster is forming from web3 builders rallying around the core premise: When a group of passionate builders collaborate, good stuff happens and positive value can be created.

CoOwnCaster: Zero to One, Together.

Peter Thiel’s viral “Zero To One” idea was the recognition that going from nothing to something (0 🡪 1) is the greatest leap possible. Bigger than stages of growth and challenges is the creation of something out of nothing. 

So often Zero to One happens with a single founder. That’s a tall task. We want to take this first and greatest leap and do it together to bring support, energy, accountability, encouragement, and joy to the process of building. 

CoOwnCaster will take initial web3 ideas and approaches that already have engagement and show potential, and bring the guild’s expertise, energy, and network to develop and grow a new organization where the collaborators co-own the new product or organization that is built. 

Our first project will be CoCreated—a project started by founding member @chriscocreated as an experiment in collaboration. Now, Chris is turning his baby over to the CoOwnCaster Guild to do their thing and create a new project that we might call a co-created, co-owned experiment in collaboration. Now, that’s some real “meta”—collaborating turned inward on itself!

Background

This initiative was born at Far(away)con meetup in London—organized locally to cope with the FOMO of not being at Farcon. Thanks to @jayme @oxb @tudorizer @sarahakwisombe @sandiforward who organized a day focused on building on Farcaster, we got to meet, share ideas, and learn of our shared values.

The two ideas we were working on:

CoCreated - We are building a CoOwned organization. An organization that enables teams, events and communities to be more connected, more expressed, and more creative -> through collective art experiences.

Covariance - a web3 native way for projects to GTM - we call it Go To Network - projects scale their BD growth efforts by aligning incentives with a network of super connectors that help identify & create opportunities.

Enters CoOwnCaster - An experiment of collective value add.

We envision building a space that brings together the best tools for early-stage builders. 

We created CoOwnCaster as a group that has inherent interest in participation in this and other co-creation initiatives so that we can leverage our gifts and talents as we grow in knowledge, experience, and expertise.

We’ve started applying the CoOwnCaster Guild and model to CoCreated, which is our first campaign and is launching shortly. Our goal is to bring more projects into CoOwnCaster. 

Who knows, this may evolve into its own co-owned collective which can leverage tools like Covariance, CoCreated, and future additions to the toolset!

Why this approach ?

Bootstrapping new products, brands, and communities around community ownership is becoming more popular, with web3 communities leading the way in experimentation. 

We’ve seen amazing growth in bottom-up emergence of token-first communities like $HIGHER $SENDIT, and $DEGEN. They have started their journey with a financial speculation game—an opportunity for anyone to participate in the upside of a newly formed initiative. 

But even in these early stages, these examples show a novel way to get people together and bring their attention, effort, and capital together. The motive: financial incentive to build something new together. 

But not all builders are ready to launch a token to start their journey. Not all in the community have the capital needed to buy into the experiment. On top of that, most initiatives need initial steering and guidance from a team or strong leader to gather people together and guide them in building something of real value. 

In fact, in many grassroots initiatives, there comes a point fairly quickly where the community is looking for leadership to bring them out of the early chaos of the PvP rollercoaster and into a clearer path forward. 

Enter CoOwnCaster – Coordinated and co-created guidance and steering for the bootstrapping phase. The end goal is the same: create experiments that possess co-ownership value at their core and allow anyone to participate and enjoy the upside created.

short answer - everybody is invited, as long as you are looking to take active role in contributing.

We are looking for people across all disciplines and skill set - from developers to artists, creative to data geeks, people who love to create content and those who just like creating memes. People who can help think strategically on venture development, and at the same time fast moving entrepreneurs who like to move fast and break things
