Smoking is one of the most significant threats to human health. According to the World Health Organization Tobacco causes nearly 7 million deaths each year, of which more than 6 million occur among tobacco users and former tobacco users and more than 890,000 among non-smokers exposed to secondhand smoke. Unless urgent action is taken, the number of annual deaths could exceed 8 million by 2030.
