Songbirdz is more than just an NFT collection... it’s an evolving, onchain celebration of birds, art, and community. The mint is live, the birds are singing, and the entire project is open-source, CC0, and decentralized by design.
But to truly take flight, we need you. Builders, artists, storytellers, and ornithologists alike.
This is the definitive guide to getting involved and growing alongside our flock, whether you're pushing code, cooking memes, or sharing bird facts.
First things first, these are the four quick and easy things you can do to immediately support the project.

Follow dry_tortuga and songbirdz on X.
Like and Repost the pinned tweets, or Quote-Tweet it with a supportive message, ideally relevant to the post. Hashtags you can use include #Songbirdz, @Base.
Show off a few of your favorite Songbirdz NFTs that you've identified.
Base App (Farcaster)
Follow dry-tortuga on the Base App.
Join the /songbirdz channel on Farcaster.
Show off a few of your favorite Songbirdz NFTs that you've identified.
Telegram (Optional)
Join the Songbirdz channel on Telegram.
Say hello and share a quick message about your experience with birds (or bird watching).
Show off a few of your favorite Songbirdz NFTs that you've identified.
Github (Optional)
Star the 3 Songbirdz repositories: frontend, backend, media.
Fork the media repository to help backup the image and audio files for the NFTs (bonus points if you download everything locally and stick it on a USB).
Skim the READMEs for more context.
Thank you!
If you've finished the list of tasks above, you've already done your part to help grow the project. If you feel inspired to contribute more, see below for some ideas on what you can do. This is not a perfect list by any means, if you have any other ideas or things you want to build, you can just do them :)
đź› For Builders: Tech Ideas to Ship
Songbirdz is built with extensibility in mind. Everything is onchain, open, and composable. Here are just a few directions you can take if you’re ready to vibe code:
Add Merlin (Cornell Lab’s bird sound ID app) integration. Enable users to record real-life bird songs and connect the detected species to their onchain profile. Imagine hearing a warbler IRL and realizing you own that bird onchain.
Add eBird integration: Connect Songbirdz to eBird so users can cross-reference their real-world birding logs with their digital bird collection. Bonus points for showing lifetime stats, range maps, bird facts, etc.
Add Privy integration: Let normies mint. Not everyone has a wallet. Add Privy so users can sign in using social logins (email, Twitter, etc.) and still get a self-custodied wallet in the background.
User Profile page: Build a profile page that feels alive. Show a user’s onchain bird collection, onchain ID history, daily streak stats, and lifetime points earned. Pull in irl data from Merlin and eBird too.
Bird Sound Melodies: Own multiple birds? You own their songs. Create a custom chorus by mixing the MP3s of your birds into one melodic track. This could be a standalone composer or integrated directly into songbirdz.cc. You could even tokenize it using something like Songcast.
Background color gradients: Thematic flocks deserve thematic vibes. Spice up the background of individual bird pages (and the gallery view) based on the flock theme. For example, the Masters of Disguise flock could feature earthy camoflauge tones of browns, oranges, and muted greens.
🎨 For Creators: Make it Your Own
You don’t need to write code to contribute. Songbirdz is fully CC0, which means you’re encouraged to remix and re-imagine freely.
Yap on X and Farcaster: Post about your birds on X, the new Base App, Farcaster, Discord, etc. Share ID streaks, daily scores, or just your favorite bird calls. Tag us and use the hashtash #Songbirdz so we can share these out.
Draw, paint, collage, sculpt. Whatever your medium, we’d love to see your take on Songbirdz. Tag us on Farcaster or X so we can share it with our community.
GIFs for Giphy: Use the existing bird art to create fun stickers and short loops. Upload them to Giphy so they can be used in TG, DMs, posts, and replies.
Create & Sell Merch: Yes, you’re allowed to monetize anything you make with Songbirdz CC0 art. Here are a few ideas:
Framed Prints: Individual birds or multi-bird grids. Add a QR code that plays the bird’s call or links to songbirdz.cc when scanned.
Clothing: High-quality shirts, hoodies, hats, and tote bags featuring flock artwork.
Puzzles: Custom puzzles made from individual birds or themed flocks.
Wingspan Cards: Create a custom Songbirdz expansion deck for the Wingspan board game (unfortunately we wouldn't be allowed to sell them—print & share for fun only).
Farcaster Mini-Apps: Make Birding Social + Fun
Here are a few Farcaster-native app ideas (built using Neynar) that could further bring Songbirdz to the social layer:
Wingspan Inspired Idle Game: Inspired by the Wingspan board game. Feed your birds, hatch eggs, level up, and collect powers. A hawk from Predator & Prey might "kill" other users' birds, while a dove may dodge attacks. See Farville, Cat Town, and Frenpet on Farcaster for more inspiration.
The Daily Birder: At a set time each day, all players receive 1–3 mystery birds. Can you ID them correctly? Earn points and streak bonuses. Flex your knowledge on a shared leaderboard. Leverage farcaster notifications to make it fun and get everyone talking about it at the same hour each day.
Bird Blitz: A fast-twitch daily quiz. You’re shown a 3x3 grid of Songbirdz. A name flashes on screen. Click the correct one as fast as possible. Repeat until all 9 are done. Compete for time and accuracy. Leverage farcaster notifications to make it fun and get everyone talking about it at the same hour each day.
Songbirdz is Permissionless
You don’t need to ask for permission to build on or remix Songbirdz.
But if you want feedback, help, or visibility, just share it with the community and we’ll do our best to support you. Whether you're coding a Farcaster app, remixing bird songs, or painting doves on denim, this project is yours to build with.
