Today’s focus is on ‘Interpreting Starknet,’ part of our series connecting with industry leaders. We’re privileged to have Louis Guthmann, Ecosystem Lead at Starkware, and Antoine Sperrenburg, Ecosystem Lead at Argent Wallet, with us.

Louis introduces Starkware, a company pioneering zero-knowledge proofs, a technique revolutionizing computation compression on the blockchain. Starknet, their Ethereum Layer 2, leverages Ethereum’s security for its operations. This means as long as Ethereum maintains its stability, Starknet remains secure by default. Louis emphasizes their ZK roll up, a compressed blockchain, live for 2 years.

Antoine, Ecosystem Lead at Argent, dives into their smart account wallet, a pioneer on Starknet. Argent holds 70–80% market share, emphasizing its role in account abstraction. This allows multiple accounts, secure user IDs, and multicalls. Antoine underlines the importance of account abstraction for self-custody and improved UX.

Louis and Antoine pinpoint UX and cost as major roadblocks to Web3 adoption. Louis calls for simpler onboarding processes and lower costs. Antoine highlights the need for account abstraction to bridge the convenience gap between centralized and decentralized solutions.
