Should Trader Afraid of DefAi?

Before starting the article, the writer wants to give a disclaimer that they are not an expert of web3, only an observer to the current situation of the space.

What the writer will write in this text will be a no-brainer to everyone in web3. This is a noob writing. But just a reflection of the other day.

It's 2025, and I think we should start to study DeFAi/AiFi.

First, let me explain what is DefAi/AiFi. It represents a convergence of DeFi and AI, establishing a novel financial framework that bridges the rapidly expanding AI economy with decentralised finance. This framework operates autonomously, and *ideally* free from central control by entities such as traditional banks.

A core component of DefAi is the integration of AI agents, which are designed to perform specific tasks autonomously (very good for no-brainer people). These tasks include, (but of course are not limited to) market data analysis, trading strategy optimisation, and risk management. The deployment of AI agents is anticipated to enhance the efficiency, intelligence, and adaptability of DeFi platforms. I mean… We see AI agents everywhere now… Even in web2, AI agents are already penetrating in many sectors.

The significance of DefAi stems from several key factors: (1) the substantial market opportunity presented by the projected $1.8 trillion AI market by 2030 (some projected even higher in lesser time), (2) the democratisation of participation in the AI economy for individuals and smaller organisations, and (3) the creation of new funding avenues for AI companies.

The transformative potential between AI and blockchain has been recognised for some time since like years ago. While DefAi is still in its developing (yet rapid) stages, it presents a timely opportunity to explore and understand the capabilities of AI agents and related technologies.

Therefore, the question becomes: should we be afraid of DefAi/AiFi?

I think… I THINK… Traders should not be afraid of DefAi, but rather see it as a potential tool to enhance their trading strategies. It’s like students with ChatGPT. Now… it is not the best tool, but helps a lot. Here are some points that came up in my mind:

  • Increased Trading Strategy and Efficiency: DefAi can analyse vast amounts of data and identify patterns that we peeple might miss, leading to faster and more accurate trade execution.

  • Improved Risk Management: DefAi can help identify and mitigate risks more effectively, potentially leading to more consistent and profitable trades.

  • New Opportunities: DefAi can open up new trading strategies and markets that were previously inaccessible to regular peeple traders.

But this is came from someone who is not actively trading. Hehe :)

I think I should update this after I interviewed some of my trader friends.

But what I see is that DefAi offers significant potential benefits for my trader fellas, but it's important to approach it with a balanced perspective, understanding both its strengths and the risk behind this developing AI concept. By using DefAi responsibly and combining it with YOUR strategy and expertise, you can actually achieve the best outcome of your trading activities.
