CME launches micro bitcoin and Ethereum options

Zhitong finance app learned that the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME. US), the operator of futures exchange, said on Tuesday that the company plans to launch micro bitcoin and Ethereum options later this month to improve its attractiveness to retail traders.

The size of these contracts will be one tenth of the two largest cryptocurrencies, which can be used by institutions and retail investors. They will be launched on March 28 and are currently awaiting regulatory review.

Option contracts are used by traders to protect themselves from sharp fluctuations in stock prices and speculate on the trend of stock prices. Although cryptocurrency is moving into the mainstream, in the past year, the price of cryptocurrency fluctuated sharply as central banks sent a signal to end the economic stimulus measures during the epidemic period and revealed the intention of raising interest rates to curb uncontrollable inflation.
