It is now ten months ago since I posted Passion & Profession Migration [web2→web3], my first post here on Mirror. Since then I have been busy, too busy. My plan of shamelessly sharing my journey and thoughts online just like Mason advised was short-lived. Polishing the reflections and thoughts I wrote in my private Notion remained the last priority on the daily to-dos. After this hectic period, things have slowed down again, and I want to share what I was busy with and my plans ahead.
ecom business → crypto startup job
sweden → nomad
singel → relationship
BTC $41.5k → $19.8k
ETH $3.2k → $1.3k
Even though only a few read it, my first post helped to make me feel accountable for executing my plan. When I’m now in the honeymoon phase of a new business, I want to take time to share my plan publicly before all the self-doubt kicks in. I hope it can have the same effect this time. But first, let's look back!
Only weeks after the first post I was in multiple interview processes for marketing jobs in crypto startups. An early-stage startup with a unique use case for NFTs, looking for a marketing lead to form a new team and strategy was like music to my ears. I accepted what was about to become one of the biggest challenges yet in my short career.
On February 28th I was welcomed to Reality Cards (and now CARDS.IO) by an amazing team with an ambitious vision of taking the world's first NFT-based prediction market, from a small beta to its complete product launch and beyond. There are lots to say about the journey. Even though the result wasn't as expected, I am proud of the work we have done together for the past months. I got to travel to conferences like ETH Amsterdam and TMRW Conference in Belgrade; through trial and error navigated my first leadership position and create lifelong friendships and relationships with like-minded people. The list of mistakes, regrets, and lessons is long but I try to convince myself that that is an unavoidable part of what feels like three years of experience condensed into eight months’ time.

I'm incredibly thankful to the leaders of CARDS.IO for giving me this opportunity and wish the whole team the best of luck in the future. I still strongly believe in the vision and will remain a community member of the project. Go check them out if you haven't already!
When making the decision to leave, I didn't have a clear plan for what to do next. My last couple of weeks work naturally slowed down and I took some time to go through Build Once, Sell Twice by Jack Butcher which was recommended by a friend months earlier. It talks about some modern business philosophies that sparked my interest in taking a stab at building a new business.
Content agency for web3 is one of several ongoing “business plans/ideas” that I now and then add to. Developing business ideas is a big interest I have shared with my brother since we were young and adding to my collection of ideas has become more of a form of entertainment than building actionable plans to execute. But Jack's course inspired me to revisit Content agency for web3 in my Notion with a more serious perspective. Not only through my experience at CARDS.IO but also from contact with 10+ similar, small marketing teams in the industry, I found what to me was a clear gap. Not only something many of these projects lack but also the marketing field I like most and consider myself best at.
Startups are in a tricky spot in today's climate. To consistently produce high-quality content you need creative experts. Graphic designers, video editors, content writers, and so on. It is rarely possible to hire all this in-house and therefore a social media manager with general knowledge of it all becomes the solution. But quantity is where I think most are missing out. Pushing out custom content to all major platforms is hard so the compromise becomes solely focused on one or two (Discord & Twitter most likely). It’s hard to break through the algorithm on Twitter and Discord is gated so the pillar content that is made weekly only gets seen by Twitter followers and Discord members. Top funnel traffic is what is lacking.
Repurposing content and customizing it to each platform is what every marketer knows is the move today for underpriced attention. Volume is more than ever the key to success in content marketing. Unfortunately doing this in practice is extremely time-consuming and labor-intensive. It also requires a great understanding of how the algorithms at the different platforms change and what works on each platform at the time. So this is what I’m building! A system so that small marketing teams can outsource parts of their content marketing and keep core focus in-house. For less cost than a full-time marketing role, the team can 10X their distribution (and most likely +100x total impressions) with no extra work in-house. It’s going great so far. My network of talented creatives and crypto-native content experts is growing. I’m extremely excited about onboarding the first couple of clients in just a few weeks.
I have a lot more to say on the topic of content marketing in web3, this business plan, and building a remote team so stray tuned for more posts.
Oh, and I started using social media for the first time in 6 years.
