We oppose war. War results only in death and destruction. Nuclear weapons should have been abolished long ago. Their continued existence is an existential threat to humankind which casts a terrifying spectre over everyday living. War, and especially nuclear war, has no winners. Everyone loses. The game theory of nuclear war is not nation state vs nation state. The game theory of nuclear war is those with red buttons in nuclear bunkers versus everyone else. This should not be necessary to say, but it is.
Our mission is to help build a world in which people can interact with economic systems in a way which accurately reflects their preferences. In such a world, war would no longer be profitable. We do not live in that world yet. Blockchains don’t stop tanks, fighter jets, or nuclear missiles. Our work is early-stage, and there is little we can do directly right now, but we will continue to work towards such a world, and we will make organizational preparations as best we can for that work to continue under conditions of systemic uncertainty. We hope for a deescalation to the current conflict and a collective reflection on the social, economic, cultural, technological and political structures which have brought humanity to this point, for as a whole they have failed.
We commit to neutrality, in this war and in all wars. We commit to supporting everyone and anyone working towards such a better world regardless of national origin or personal identity. We commit to using the resources of our organization, as we are able, to reduce the likelihood of conflict and to aid those in need. This is all we can do, but we will do what we can.
