What is VRF and How Does It Improve Consensus in Beldex
Greetings crypto folks 👋 Therefore, I was trying to explore the workings of the Beldex consensus mechanism (why not) and I came across something very interesting: VRF based consensus. You may find this mind-blowing a bit if you already know how Proof-of-Stake works in Beldex. And if you are not, then no stress, I will make it simple. Beldex is currently based on a PoS consensus but has this concept of a quorum which essentially is a team of 12 randomly selected nodes, these nodes are called ...

BelNet Clients, BelNet Namespaces, & MNApps
BelNet is an onion routing protocol. Like all onion routing protocols, BelNet anonymizes your internet traffic. However, most onion routers have some aspect of centralization or leak data in one way or another. We mean it when we say it’s an extremely arduous affair to build an onion router that doesn’t have a centralized registry of routers and exit nodes. Then, there’s the issue of security. If we’re not careful, issues such as DNS leaks and certain 0 day vulnerabilities can expose a person...

Empowering people's confidentiality | Building a confidential Web3 ecosystem with BChat, BelNet, Beldex Browser, and the Beldex Protocol

We all know that you’ve been waiting for this update. So without further ado, here’s the exciting feature on BChat.
The Beldex Wallet is live on BChat.
Yes, you read that right. The Beldex wallet is integrated with the BChat private messenger so that you can send and receive BDX to your friends on BChat.
No more switching between the BChat app and the Beldex wallet. With the integrated wallet, you can use BChat to both chat with your friends and make BDX payments on the go.
A web3 messenger enables you to create on-chain identities (such as your BChat ID) to securely text your loved ones.
And with the BChat web3 messenger, you can send truly private messages.
Your BChat ID, the 64-66 character long alphanumeric ID, is your identity within the Beldex Web3 ecosystem. It cannot be changed or modified.
When you share this ID with your friends, you’ll be able to connect with them and send encrypted, onion routed messages.
Most of us today use instant messengers to connect with not just our friends, family, and colleagues but with merchants, business owners, clients and a whole bunch of other people.
We use messaging applications to make payments and conversely, payment applications to text our contacts. The fine line that distinguishes a messenger and a payment application is no more.
A number of merchants and business owners today accept cryptocurrencies. Identifying every one of your contacts using their wallet address is similar to looking for a needle in a haystack.
Even the Beldex team makes payments to colleagues, partners, businesses and even rewards the community with BDX on a regular basis.
So, how can we make it easier to pay BDX to our contacts instantly without going through the hassle of looking up their wallet address?
A web3 wallet address is also an on-chain identity.
Your wallet address is the public key (of your public-private key pair) that you share with your friends to receive crypto.
The Beldex wallet is a web3 wallet that you can use to send and receive BDX.
But it’s also difficult to remember the wallet addresses of all your contacts because they are long. Infact, a typical Beldex wallet address is 97-99 characters long.

Trying to memorize this wallet address or at least the first few and last few letters is futile.
Even if you can get one wallet address right, it’s pretty challenging to get it all right when you’ve got a bunch of people you want to make payments to.
And when you share your BDX wallet address with others to receive BDX, you have to trust them to get your wallet address right.
How can we make BDX payments simple, effective, and efficient?
It’s a hassle to memorize wallet addresses and that’s why we’ve integrated the Beldex wallet to BChat.
How does this solve the problem of long and forgetful wallet addresses?

Advantages of the Integrated Wallet on BChat
Integrating Beldex wallet with BChat helps you easily verify your contact’s wallet address.
It is quick and convenient to send BDX to a contact on BChat.
For instance, if you’re sending BDX to Alice, you can just go to her profile and copy her Beldex wallet address. Then, you can head over to the wallet section (Settings -> My Wallet) on BChat to make the BDX payment.

Your integrated BChat wallet also has an address book feature that lists the wallet addresses of your contacts.

Thus, you can now text the people you want to pay with BDX. You don’t have to switch between BChat and the Beldex wallet.

Seeing is believing. So download the app to check it for yourself.
Here is a video guide that gives an overview of the Integrated Beldex wallet on BChat.
If you’re an existing BChat user, then you’ll be asked to update your BChat app.
Once you update your BChat app, you will see a ‘My Wallet’ option under your profile settings.

When you access your BChat Wallet for the first time, you will be prompted to set a wallet pin. Note that this pin is different from your BChat pin.
To set a Wallet pin, existing users will be required to restore their account.
Once you’ve set a wallet pin, you can access your wallet on BChat.
This is a Beta release of the Integrated BChat wallet.
For the very first time, synchronization of the wallet will take a few minutes.
Once the wallet is synchronized fully for the first time, it will thereafter sync much faster whenever you access it.
Stay tuned for future updates. Beldex wallet will also be shortly integrated to the iOS and desktop versions of the app.
