bgrosso.eth's ETH/USD Tracking Bear/Bull NFT

Who are you, and what is your software development background?

Frontend engineer at Capital One, previously fullstack/graphql at startup, before that a teacher, before that investment manager. In Northeast US.

Why did you want to complete this lesson?

I wanted to complete this lesson because I want to complete the whole series but also because I have tried doing random number generation in the past in a smart contract and it was not easy and wanted to learn what Chainlink is all about.

When did you complete the project?

11/07/22

What technologies did you use? Remix, Chainlink Verified Random Function and Price Feed, wrote contract in Solidity with prebuilt OpenZeppelin contract functions, Goerli Ethereum testnet, IPFS, OpenSea.

What did you enjoy about the tutorial?

The difficulty - this was much harder than the first 4 in the series and I feel that made me grow more. There were several significant blockers along the way such as not being able to compile the contract because I was missing a directive, etc that caused me to learn quite a bit.

How do you think you can use this technology to build useful applications in the future? What are some specific example applications?

Anything that needs true randomness generated in a decentralized way, or tracking of markets in decentralized way could benefit. With inflation top of mind a cool idea would be a token that links increases in supply to USD inflation somehow. I found online that CryptOrchids using VRF to determine what β€˜species’ of NFT a user gets.

Who would you recommend this project to?

Anyone!
