What is the Metaverse? The Chinese "metaverse" is literally translated from the English noun metaverse. Its prefix "meta-" has the meaning of "meta" and "transcendent", and the root "verse" represents the universe. The combination of the two is "transcendent universe", which means the metaverse. Some people also translate it as "super universe", "super meta domain", "virtual reality", "virtual world" and so on. The Oxford English Dictionary for Web defines the metaverse as "a virtual reality space in which users interact with computer-generated environments and other people". "Wikipedia" defines it as "physical reality through virtual reality, showing the characteristics of convergence and physical persistence, a 3D virtual space with connection perception and sharing characteristics based on the future Internet".
