Since launching the /bizarrebeasts Farcaster channel on September 29, 2024, our community has grown at lightning speed. This campaign was a test of that BIZARRE strength and community; precisely the kind of grassroots creative force Decentralized Pictures (DCP) was built to champion!
We set a massive, high-reaching goal to earn this A3 Award and mentorship, and put in a TON of BIZARRE effort to reach it. Among 24 global projects, we did more than participate; we led the conversation! (AND WE SHOULD FEEL VERY PROUD!)
IMPORTANT NOTE: We are still very much in the running! This community voting phase was a critical hurdle, and we are continuing in the selection process. This campaign was the fuel, not the finish line.
While the first-place project (6DEGREES Films) took the lead in the final weighted scores, BizarreBeasts led in every significant category of human engagement:

Our community not only clicked the vote button, but also took the time to write, engage, and advocate our mission in BIZARRE style. I am still reading through all the reviews, messages, and support for the project, and it is BIZARRE and INCREDIBLE! 🤩
This voting campaign was a two-week global activation that brought new users into the BizarreBeasts ecosystem and demonstrated the power of coordinated onchain community building.

The Beast's Voice: From my account, @bizarrebeast, I posted 87 targeted casts, generating 7,002 engagements (likes, recasts, and replies).
Community Power: at least 358 unique contributors created 753 organic casts about the campaign, contributing an additional 2,208 engagements.

The A3 Award landing page on the BizarreBeasts miniapp alone drove 676 active users and 1,328 page views, proving the campaign brought real traffic and real engagement to the ecosystem.
Users from 242+ cities across Indonesia, Nigeria, China, South Korea, and the United States engaged with the campaign, a testament to the BIZARRE borderless nature of onchain communities.

Decentralized Pictures (DCP) does not use a simple "one person, one vote" model. Instead, it utilizes a reputation-weighted voting system designed for "Crowd Curating." This explains the difference between raw engagement and final weighted scores.
According to the framework established by DCP co-founders Leo Matchett and Michael Musante, the system is governed by several key factors:
Reviewer Reputation Weight: Experienced reviewers with high reputation scores carry more weight than new voters.
Staking/Confidence Score: Reviewers can lock TALNT tokens on their review to add weight to their vote, demonstrating personal conviction in the project’s quality.
Timing Score: The system rewards early discovery. "Trendsetters get more weight than trend followers," meaning votes cast early in the cycle carry more weight than those that "pile on" later.
Accuracy History: Users who have historically voted for projects that performed well (or were ultimately selected) build more reputation, which in turn increases their future vote weight.
DCP co-founder Michael Musante notes their system is meant to be "alternative and additive" to legacy systems, not a replacement. In that spirit, we believe onchain communities like BizarreBeasts ($BB) represent one of the most powerful additive forces in modern art.

Decentralized Pictures (DCP) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit co-founded by Roman Coppola, Leo Matchett, and Michael Musante, with support from American Zoetrope, the legendary independent film studio founded by Francis Ford Coppola and George Lucas in 1969. The Coppola family has spent decades championing independent voices and disrupting the studio system; DCP is the Web3 evolution of that mission.
By utilizing a decentralized voting platform on Base, DCP allows the community to act as the "studio executive," deciding which projects deserve to be seen. The platform provides a space where "Bizarre" ideas can find the resources they need to thrive outside the traditional Hollywood machine.
The A3 Startup Award is a $100,000 grant run in partnership between the Arts3 Foundation, CV Summit, and DCP. The award is specifically designed to seed innovative startups that are building the next generation of decentralized entertainment platforms, tools, and content. The process is entirely community-driven, where the top 3 community-voted projects are reviewed by the Arts3 Foundation Board, who then choose the recipient. This ensures that funding goes directly to projects with active community support and merit.
