With an army of curators, Feeds is reclaiming power from the algorithm, reshaping content consumption on Farcaster, and establishing a new distribution mechanism. I’m going $BEAST to be here at the beginning with our own dedicated BizarreBeasts Feed ($BIZBE), bringing you the most memorable, exciting, and BIZARRE content from across the $BB ecosystem.
In simple terms, a Feed is a collection of hand-curated casts, organized by theme or subject. In broader terms, it represents the early stages of a powerful new distribution mechanism built on the Procoin Curation Protocol (PCP), a set of smart contracts deployed on Base and tightly integrated with Farcaster.
Each feed comes with its own feedcoin, which is immediately tradable on a bonding curve, paired against $PRO. This creates a dynamic flywheel: as more curators and investors come online, the feedcoin supply increases alongside its price, and every feedcoin buy acts as a $PRO token sink, benefiting the entire ecosystem. As a user and content consumer, you can invest directly in your favorite curator’s new distribution channel, and they earn on every swap.
The goal of the PCP is to create a sustainable economic model for curators, ensuring that valuable content that might otherwise go undiscovered on Farcaster finds its audience.
Anyone can become a curator and create their own feed! To create a feed, simply visit the "Create Feed" page in the Feeds miniapp. You'll need to choose a unique symbol, a feed name, an image URL, and a description (all of which can be changed later, except the symbol). To initiate the bonding curve, you must deposit a minimum amount of $PRO (currently 50k), which is converted to feedcoins and added to your balance. The larger your initial deposit, the higher your feedcoin's starting market cap, incentivizing early investment in yourself. I have been holding onto the $PRO airdrop that took place at the end of May and swapped my $PRO holdings into $BIZBE to get the FeedCoin started!
Curating is designed to be a seamless process, as easy as scrolling Farcaster. A feed is simply a collection of Farcaster posts stored in your feed's smart contract. To curate a post, just reply to it with the text: @procoin curate <your-feed-symbol>. That’s it! The @procoin bot will process your transaction and confirm it.
The curation process on Feeds empowers curators to build alignment with creators, ensuring that original content posters also share in the upside.
Reward Options (First 50 Posts): For the first 50 posts curated, original authors are issued a reward option representing 0.1% of the total feedcoin supply. There's a strategic element here: recipients may want to wait for the feed to gain popularity and increase in price before exercising their options, as 0.1% of a feedcoin with 1M total supply is significantly more valuable than 0.1% of one with 100k supply. Curators are encouraged to include their favorite creators in early curations to build alignment. Creators can exercise and claim their options in the miniapp at any time.
Basic Issuance (After 50 Posts): After the initial 50 posts, all subsequent curations result in an automatic issuance of 0.002% of the supply directly to the original post author. This balance is credited to their Farcaster primary address and is immediately tradable.
Curating Your Own Posts: While you are encouraged to curate your own posts to your feed, they do not count towards the initial 50 posts and will not result in any feedcoin issuance to yourself.
Feeds are a flexible and composable primitive, compatible with a wide array of business models. To start, an advertising model is built into the smart contracts, allowing users to pay to curate a post and display it in someone else's feed. Curators have configurability over who can advertise and the option to remove unwanted posts. The beauty of this model is that when an advertiser pays $PRO to curate a post, the value of everyone's feedcoin shares goes up proportionally as the $PRO is deposited into the overall reserve.
Feedcoin balances are readable onchain, making them highly composable for other use cases. For example, a feed could serve as the key to a gated chatroom, a subscription tier for a newsletter, or much more.
