Dear ConsenSys Team,

I’m Liv Pasquarelli, a copywriter with a background in Communication Design. I’m applying for the role of Associate Creative Director, Copy for Web3.

I’m a lifelong writer and blockchain native since before it was cool (2014). I’ve been working full-time in Web3 since early 2020 when I began contributing to DAOs in various forms of writing and content creation. It started when I wrote a Twitter thread comparing designer handbags to NFTs for the DAO Crypto Besties.

After that first foray into writing content about Web3, Crypto Besties co-founder, Rima Patel, asked if I wanted to get on a call that day*.* She told me that she hadn’t met anyone with the ability to explain technical concepts so anyone could understand while maintaining the integrity and value of the technology, while still making people laugh. She also told me I’d be foolish not to jump into the Web3 ecosystem; there were a lot of people looking to pay folks like me to help more of humanity understand the power of blockchain technology.

Almost 2 years later and my entire life has changed. I’ve worked in marketing, copywriting, and graphic design since 2014, and hold a BFA from Pratt Institute in Communication Design. I spent years gaining invaluable experience in industries that ultimately were not for me. My experience working in Crypto has been unlike any other.

Web3 instantly felt like home.

I jumped into DAOs, discovered NFTs, and delved into Defi. I had unknowingly been a dormant Bitcoin maximalist for 6 years, minus the extremist political views and laser eyes. On the Ethereum blockchain, I discovered art, ownership, and community. I saw the potential to change the world through lines of code. My work was valued and I valued the work I was doing.

When I read The Cryptopians by Laura Shin, my world turned on its head. When I went on the beautiful adventure called Kernel (Block 7🌱), my world turned on its head again. This new world had me doing somersaults. There was a beating heart amongst the dozens of Discord servers, ventricles of transactions on Etherscan, and arterial Layer 2s scaling this living, breathing new paradigm.

Through Surge Women, I found my first full-time position in Defi in April 2022 at Interlay and Kintsugi, parachains on Polkadot and Kusama building the first truly decentralized Defi hub for Bitcoin. Working in the Polkadot ecosystem challenged my ability to describe deeply technical concepts, pushed me to be a better writer, and gifted me with the opportunity to work with a team of 20 of the most intelligent, diverse, hilarious, passionate, and innovative humans on earth.

However, Ethereum has been my home since I discovered it. Writing has always been my most powerful tool. I was hired to be the Social Media Manager at Interlay, but was instantly recognized for my ability to turn a boring governance proposal for a runtime upgrade into an epic narrative along with my skills and experience growing social media accounts organically through great content.

Not only has this opportunity called out to me, but many of my new Web3 friends have sent it my way, recognizing my role as a puzzle piece lost under the couch and yours as the puzzle with a me-shaped hole. I imagine the puzzle to be an oil painting of many angelic, fluffy cats.

I spent way too long writing this cover letter and even longer making a resume specifically for this role, so let me sum it up.

I’m verbose. Here’s a Summary:

I’m the perfect fit for this role. I wouldn’t apply otherwise.

Thank you so much for your time and consideration, and I hope to hear back from you soon.

Signed,
