The United States announced for the first time its assistance to Ukraine with heavy weapons, including large caliber howitzers

U.S. military assistance to Ukraine is constantly arriving. Russia warned that “there will be unpredictable consequences”.

U.S. Defense Department officials said the first flight of new U.S. military assistance to Ukraine is expected to arrive within the next 24 hours

This is the first batch of the latest US $800 million aid provided by the United States to Ukraine. It is expected that these weapons and equipment will arrive at the Ukrainian border and then be transported into Ukraine by Ukrainians from the land border.

The details of the first batch of military materials have not been disclosed, but U.S. officials previously said that Ukraine’s most urgent military supplies, such as howitzers and related ammunition, as well as radar, will be one of the first shipments.

US President Joe Biden’s government announced a new military assistance plan for Ukraine on Wednesday, including 11 Mi-17 helicopters originally designated for Afghanistan, 18 155 mm howitzers and more than 300 UAVs, as well as a radar system that can track incoming fire and determine its source.

CNN said the weapons were different from previous security assistance because they were mostly heavy equipment and more advanced than previous weapons.

For the first time, the United States agreed to provide such weapons to Kiev. Previously, some U.S. government officials worried that this heavy weapon would lead to the escalation of the war, which was too risky. Now, after the United States has made a new assessment of the strength of the Russian army, the assessment of the risk of war escalation has obviously changed.
