What are gas fees?Gas refers to the unit that measures the amount of computational effort required to execute specific operations on the Ethereum network.Ethereum.org Gas is the foundation of the Ethereum network. Every network on the chain has a non-zero gas fee that rewards supporters who have staked Ethereum and prevents bad actors from spamming the network. Unveiling Caldera's Public Testnets
Caldera’s Testnets Are Live!We are excited to share that Caldera has officially opened two public testnets! Caldera is already live, running multiple production rollups on mainnet for select projects. But we wanted to open up public Caldera chains for the broader Ethereum developer community to test with. Since we support multiple settlement layers, we’ve deployed one testnet on Goerli Ethereum, and the other on Polygon Mainnet. These testnets have been launched to showcase the power of Calde...

Blockchain developers — branching across various verticals like NFTs, DeFi, gaming — want to build complex applications. Yet, they’re plagued by the limitation of everyone bu...

Hey there, folks!
In February, we announced the launch of Caldera Spark, a proof-of-concept dashboard that enabled developers to permissionlessly launch their own rollups with a single click.

Given that we just launched our public testnet rollups, we decided now is a good time to retire Caldera Spark. Spark was always meant to be a proof-of-concept, showcasing our ability to run hundreds of dedicated layer-two blockchains without breaking a sweat. Now that we’ve done that, it’s time for us to re-focus our effort on our production-level infrastructure.
As we say goodbye to our beloved Caldera Spark we just want to give a huge shout-out to everyone who jumped in and tried it out. Let's take a quick trip down memory lane and share our excitement for what's coming next.
Seriously, you all blew our minds with your response to Caldera Spark. Seeing so many devs exploring layer-two blockchain tech was a massive sign that we're onto something big, and it's all thanks to you.
Let's Talk Numbers: Caldera Spark was an amazing experiment, and the results were beyond our wildest dreams. Here are some stats:
8,500 of you awesome people signed up
Over 5,000 rollups launched (mind-blowing, right?)
Multiple times, we had over 200 rollups running concurrently!
These figures just go to show the insane potential of Caldera’s infrasturcture and how stoked everyone is about layer-two solutions.
As we get ready to roll out our shiny new production dashboard, it's time to bid farewell to Caldera Spark. Spark was a fun experiment, and it did its job by showing off our abilities with deploying and running rollups and giving us priceless feedback from developers around the world.
Caldera Spark might be over, but our adventure is just getting started. We're working non-stop to bring the Caldera platform to production.

In the meantime, if you're itching to test out Caldera, feel free to dive into our public testnets. Or, if you’re a developer working on a project, contact us to spin up a production-ready, bespoke rollup. Since last year, we’ve been running rollups in production, on Ethereum and Polygon mainnet, for select customers.
Once again, a massive thank you to everyone who tried out Caldera Spark. Your energy and support have played a huge role in shaping the future of Caldera, and we can't wait to show you what we've got cooking. Stay tuned!
