“A phone call, the family doctor will come to serve!” On the morning of April 29, Kang Miaozhen, 78, who lives in Dongguan South Street, Xi’an, saw the family doctor Cheng Lu and nurse Ma Nina come to the door for service, took their hands and was so happy that she couldn’t close her mouth. Over the years, especially in the past five years, thanks to the service of family doctors, their chronic diseases have been very stable.
Kangmiaozhen suffers from chronic diseases such as hypertension and hypothyroidism. Her wife, 81 year old lijinbo, suffers from diabetes. Her children are not around. There are many people waiting in line to see a doctor in a large hospital. Since she had a family doctor, as long as she was sick, her first thought was to call the family doctor Cheng Lu.
On April 29, Ma Nina, a general practitioner and nurse from Dongguan South Street Community Health Service Center in Beilin District, Xi’an, learned that the old couple Kang Miaozhen had lived in the south for some time before they came back, so they came to their home for physical examination and consultation. The reporter followed them to Kang Miaozhen’s house. The old man took Cheng Lu’s hand and said happily, “I miss you when I was in the south.” The old man told reporters that during his time living in the south, he sometimes received calls from Cheng Lu to ask about their physical condition.
Cheng Lu and Ma Nina measured blood sugar and blood pressure for the two old people. Seeing that the test results were basically normal, they asked the old man how he ate and lived recently. Kang Miaozhen spoke highly of the family doctor. She said that one afternoon, she felt cold and called Cheng Lu. Cheng Lu told the old man to take his temperature first to see if he had a fever and if his throat was painful. The old man said he suspected that hypothyroidism had worsened. Cheng Lu said that just the next day, Gao Shan, an expert and deputy chief physician of the Endocrinology Department of the provincial people’s Hospital, the superior Hospital of the Medical Association of the community health service center in Dongguan South Street, Beilin District, wanted to come to the community health service center for treatment. Experts from large hospitals could see doctors without queuing up. The next day, Gao Shan opened a five item test sheet for the old man. With the test sheet opened in the community, the old man can directly go to the provincial people’s Hospital for blood test, eliminating intermediate links such as appointment and registration.
Yu Xiang, director of Beilin District Dongguan South Street Community Health Center, said that the community health service center has established seven family doctor service teams, with the community neighborhood committee as the responsibility area, regularly go deep into the community and into the family to provide basic medical and public health services for residents. The provincial people’s hospital is the superior unit of the medical consortium of the center, which provides technical support and business guidance to the center, and the two sides establish a “Two-way Referral” green channel of mutual trust.
