Where there was a fire, they rushed to the front line of the fire. They set up a ladder of life in thousands of difficulties and dangers. When they put on battle clothes, they took the responsibility of the people on their shoulders, supported the safety of the people with their flesh and blood, and moved forward in a strong and silent way.

However, taking off their combat clothes, they are as ordinary as us.

Mortal bodies are equal to gods. Manikin, 34, met “flame blue” in his youth. In the past 17 years, the profession of firefighter has brought him honor, which can’t be written on A4 paper. On the eve of the May 4th Youth Day in 2022, he became the only winner of the “China Youth May 4th Medal” in Qinghai Province.

When the focus was on manikin again, he said: it’s not just my personal honor, it’s the honor of all our firefighters who go retrograde. Saving lives is our greatest significance. “

“Always retrograde on the road”

Everyone will be afraid of the contest of life and death. But there is a power that is stronger than fear. This power comes from the steps that go retrograde again and again.

12 years ago, a 7.1-magnitude earthquake struck Yushu. Now, the mountains and rivers have healed the scars and Yushu has ushered in a new life. But for manikin, that day will never be forgotten.

After the earthquake, the fire squadron received the order to go to the rescue. Manijian volunteered and was the first to submit an application to the Party branch of the squadron to participate in earthquake relief in Yushu.

He wrote: “I am a Tibetan soldier. When I go to the disaster area, I can understand Tibetan language, and I am a veteran and experienced.” That year was manikin’s fifth year as a firefighter. He was only 22 years old.

After arriving in the disaster area, manijian and his comrades in arms received a rescue mission to the ethnic Normal School of Yushu Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture. Time is life. They can’t delay a moment. They rushed to the hardest hit areas for rescue.

Collapsed houses and exits are buried. How can we save trapped lives? Because the rescue space is very narrow, manijian and his comrades in arms can only clean up the collapsed house with their bare hands, and keep digging the ruins with both hands. His fingers are cut by the exposed steel bars and bleeding. He continues to invest in the rescue after simple bandaging. In this way, one night passed, night and day, but the hands of saving lives did not stop. After more than ten hours of efforts, 11 victims’ bodies were dug out, and six survivors were rescued in the 12 day rescue with their comrades in arms.

This is the first time manikin has carried out a major rescue mission. He once again feels the heavy responsibility on the firefighters’ shoulders and only hopes that he can save more people.

As a fire rescuer, manikin knows he can never shrink back, because they rely on fresh lives.

Turning to the rescue schedule of manijian, there are many such stories.

At 21:00 on September 21, 2018, a middle-aged man climbed onto the Tonghai bridge in the West District of Xining city to commit suicide. After receiving the rescue task, manijian and his comrades in arms quickly rushed to the scene and saw that the man had climbed to a height of nearly 40 meters along the stay cable. The on-site rescue environment is complex and difficult. The only way to rescue is to choose the ladder truck. Experienced firefighters are required to operate the ladder truck to complete the rescue as quickly as possible. It’s already dark and the cold wind is blowing. When the ladder rises to the high altitude, it will inevitably swing. Once the operation is wrong, the consequences will be unimaginable.

Manijian saw that the man was still climbing up the stay cable of the bridge. The maximum lifting height of the ladder truck was only 53 meters. After a while, it would be beyond the scope of rescue. Under the emergency, manijian and his comrade AI wenshun carried out the rescue mission together. Finally, they won the race against time.

Manikin said: “the work of firefighters needs a heart of benevolence and a heart of ruthlessness.”

“Be an all-round firefighter”

Manijian, who had just started his career, knew the dangers of the profession of firefighter, but 17 years later, he still couldn’t lose it.

On the morning of July 23, 2010, manijian and his comrades in arms were teaching the brigade for martial arts training in Ping’an District, Haidong city. Suddenly, an emergency assembly number came up, the assembly line was completed, and Golmud City was notified of the flood. He and his comrades in arms immediately returned to Xining detachment to gather for rescue mobilization. Golmud City suffered the worst continuous heavy rainfall in a century, which seriously endangered the safety of people’s lives and property. In the face of this sudden flood, they put into the battle of flood control, flood fighting and disaster relief for the first time.

Manikin said: “the rescue touched me a lot. Although I have participated in the rescue for five years, I have not rich experience in dealing with flood disasters. It made me realize that I have insufficient accumulation of rescue theory in many fields, and I know I still have a lot to learn.”

Many people think that firefighters are just fire fighters. In fact, they are not. In addition to fire fighting, they are needed to rescue earthquakes, mountain torrents, mudslides, keys left at home, gas forgotten to turn off when going out, rings and fingers can’t be taken off, and someone is ready to jump out of a building to commit suicide. All these require firefighters to have excellent professional skills, be proficient in fire business theoretical knowledge, and have good psychological quality.

After becoming a firefighter, manikin, 18, was elected to learn fire truck driving skills. Six months later, he passed the examination and obtained a driver’s license, mastering the operation technology of fire truck fire extinguishing water.

Later, manikin bought professional books to study and never took a nap again. He actively participated in every exchange training organized by the unit. In 2012, he obtained the qualification of special vehicle driver, who can drive and operate ladder truck and lift jet truck. In 2019, after training, he obtained the driving license of boat and ship. On December 11, 2015, manijian saved a mother and son who committed suicide in Huangshui Hanoi with a pair of children. Later, the mother and son were saved.
