sTHO is a “receipt” token symbolizing the staked THO value –not THO quantity– that you are currently staking in the STAKE section of Thorus App. It can even be bought or sold on Thorus through Avalanche or Moonbeam networks.NFT has entered different industries but is staggering behind in Academia. Blockchain adoption is also staggering but more evident than NFT use-cases in Academia. Typical uses of Blockchain in Academia are centered around verification of documents. Here are some examples of uses of NFTs and blockchain in Academia:
Adoption of new technology is relatively hard and almost impossible at universities. This goes back to the industrial standards set a long time ago to have universities to make obedient factory workers as part of the industrial growth. Given the heavy policy reviews, delays in management, and inherent fallbacks to traditional, proven methods, universities themselves are not ready to adopt these late platforms in blockchain and NFTs. Though, certain individual researchers might be open to accepting it and adopting it. Even then, some possible setbacks could arise:
The primary purpose of this project is to find a suitable use-case for NFTs in academia. This would involve using not only the craze but creating a future-fail-proof use of NFTs to help raise funds for researchers and awareness about their projects. Increasing collaboration and co-authoring in papers could be potential benefits as well.
The main focus of the ideas would be to act as a crowdfunding for researches happening in labs or researchers and to increase accessibility to the common population. Utility has to be built into the projects like providing early access to research to the holders, future royalty based on research outcomes, one-on-one sessions with researcher, access to lab events/tours, and sponsoring a research paper. The following could be initial applications of the NFTs, the final NFTs, or turn into a DAO (if beneficial) after the trials:
