Using hand-picked Google Street View images from years-past as the source material, these works have undergone a series of distortions and reinterpretations that widen each environmental moment into vast hyper-colored topographies. These transformations are created through artificial intelligence systems customized by the artist, and represent the expansive fragmentation and reassembly of both the physical world and our personal narratives.

Shifting Ground* is a long-term project that explores the transient nature of identity, memory, and presence in a world increasingly mediated by data collection and usage. Using hand-picked Google Street View images from years-past as the source material, these works have undergone a series of distortions and reinterpretations that widen each environmental moment into vast hyper-colored topographies.
Nov. 7: 'Composition no. 99' by Marcel Schwittlick. 'Composition no. 99' continues Schwittlick’s practice of algorithmically abstracting the vast amounts of data generated by his own digital activity. The works in this series specifically use cursor movement data that the artist has been collecting from his computer for years, which is then processed through a custom AI tool that seeks patterns in those movements.

Nov. 12: 'ISO/IEC 10646' by Paul Prudence. 'ISO/IEC 10646*' marks a culmination in a series of works exploring the use of text and signs as a material from which to weave fabrics of encoded patterns. The collection explores the historical links between weaving and computing, and their shared history of punched-card programming. (144 artworks | $120 USD)
