Good day everyone,
I hope you are all well and having a great day, welcome to CryptoGod-1’s blog on all things crypto. As some of you may have noticed in my recent posts I have added links to Mirror.xyz into my articles. As I have been writing over the past year I have learnt a lot and feel I have grown as a writer, and therefore wanted to expand my audience. Once I discovered Mirror, it felt like the perfect opportunity to expand further and I would like to share that experience with you all.
This is an interesting and fun site I recently discovered in my ever expanding journey through Web 3. The site allows users to publish their written work, including articles, as collectible NFTs. Like with any Web 3 based website, it works via connecting your wallet, which from what I have seen so far can be:
MetaMask
Coinbase Wallet
Wallet Connect
So what is mirror? It considers itself “the home for web3 publishing,” allowing its users to create NFT collectible of their written work.

Similar to other sites, such as Publish0x, the format is user friendly and easy to master once you get going. A user simply writes up their article / blog post / whatever written work they want, and format it to their needs.
For example I copy and paste the written text from my draft post here into a Mirror.xyz article. The site allows users to format their text, embed code for things such as YouTube or Twitter, and insert images. All of this is done via the ‘Blocks’ button on the bottom of the page, which handles all the formatting and insertion function. A cool additional feature is the ability to place a NFT into the article, meaning if you are writing a post about a NFT or NFT Collection, there is the potential to embed one of the NFTs into the article itself. Below is a basic layout of how the site looks before you begin an article:

Once a user has completed their article, it is important to insert a “Collect” button from the Blocks tab at the bottom of the screen. This is the function which allows other users to collect the article as a NFT. Users can all insert a “Subscribe” button to build their followers on Mirror. Below I have shown a basic article with the Collect and Subscribe button created (in blue) while I have also clicked the ‘Blocks’ feature to show how the drop down list looks, which is very simple and user friendly.

Users can also fine tune their article in terms of web searches, allowing for the editing of the Cover Image as it will be shown online, the Meta Title for search engine results, and the Meta Data which consists of the subtitle used on search engine results pages and across social media. For example, if I upload one of my articles and do not edit the Meta Data, then the results on search engines will show my opening paragraph:
Good day everyone, I hope you are all well and having a great day, welcome to CryptoGod-1’s blog on all things crypto. As some of you may have noticed…
While this is a good opening for the article, in terms of search engines it does not give much information to any potential reader to entice them into opening the page. Therefore it is good practice when using the likes of mirror.xyz, and medium.com, to ensure you have optimised this information to be as information as possible which should help to draw in further readers. Below is a screenshot of where a user finds these functions, via the settings button on the top right corner.

Finally, and possibly the most unique and exciting part, is the NFT minting. The site uses the Optimism Network, which is a Layer 2 scaling solution for Ethereum. The currency in use on Mirror.xyz is ETH, and collectable entries are free to create. By default, all entries are set to be free with a supply of 500. However, a user can adjust the cost price and number of entries available via the Publish tab in the top right corner. From here, a user clicks “enable funding” which allows the price and available copies to be set. From what I have seen the max supply that can be created for a single article is 9,999.
Collectors will need to bridge ETH to oETH to pay gas for the minting, and whatever mint price is set by an author. As the max supply is limited, once the supply runs out, anyone can purchase one of the NFTs on a secondary marketplace for Optimism NFTs, such as Quixotic. If you find a favourite writer and article but their supply is sold out, the hope is that a large following will result in demand for their NFTs. There is also no fee from Mirror on sales, so if you set a mint price of 0.01ETH and sell one, then you will receive the full 0.01ETH into your wallet, but it is important to note that as of now there is no user setting on Mirror to adjust the royalties. Users can adjust it via the smart contract, although it is somewhat technical, but the information on how is available here: https://support.mirror.xyz/hc/en-us/articles/6849887904916-How-do-I-set-secondary-sale-royalties-

The site also allows users to import a blog article from another site, such as Medium. As of yet I have not managed to successfully import and article from Publish0x into mirror, which is unfortunate, but possibly it is to do with the different formatting settings between the sites. There is also an interesting post regarding how to use all of the features of mirror.xyz, which you can find here: https://support.mirror.xyz/hc/en-us/articles/6847458952852-Step-by-step-Editor-guide
Every Writing NFT you collect through Mirror will be added to your personal collection on the site, which will be public and signal to others your advocacy, support, and interests. You can view your own collection by visiting your Profile Page (e.g. mirror.xyz/yourname.eth) and navigating to the Collection tab. You can also view the collections of other writers and creators on Mirror by navigating to their subdomain and the corresponding “Collection” tab.
I hope you enjoyed my article and found it to be of interest. Personally I adore reading and writing and at every opportunity I am looking for new endeavours and opportunities to expanding my audience. Whether or not any passive income is made from Medium.com, or any NFTs sell on Mirror.xyz, are just bonuses. Getting yourself out there is the main thing, and who knows, maybe you find additional writers to learn from, or mint a NFT today of a blogger who goes on to become a famous author down the line. I’m pretty sure the NFT would go up in value if that was to happen, or at least we can dream anyway ;)
Have a great day.
Peace. CryptoGod-1.
