That was a mistake. In my cultural circle people say “sorry” even when they are not sorry. Do you have tissue / chewing gum / fire / lighter / rolling papers / long rolling papers? Sorry… I’m not sorry, I simply don’t have the requested item. But in this particular context I should have expressed genuine apology. Expressing an apology is compatible with “the truth from the heart”.
Another (potential) mistake further down the line was avoiding eye contact and keeping distance. I thought the situation already resolved itself and I didn’t want to resurface the drama. I mention it as (potential) in brackets because it didn’t appear as a mistake at a time.
That’s entirely separate rabbit hole.
They forcibly removed my tent and made me wait at the security HQ for around 1.5 - 2 hours and then… Boom. Done. Gone. Bye.

I replied to this comment saying “I agree with this sentiment”. I assumed that ?? punctuation indicates an emotion. I honestly thought the same, $20 per meal is a decent restaurant price, not volunteer run community effort.
(I wasn’t aware about the number of upsells, including premium VIP camping)
I am keen to go regardless.
But then I was told not to go, so I guess I will need to comply.
I wish the food was treated like a community ritual. It would be so much nicer for the vibe, as opposed to 1st 2nd 3rd class citizens.
I also made a point about “organic”. My assumption was that in Costa Rica there is growing season around the year, local produce, not many air miles, “organic” as marketing gimmick, I understand that agriculture requires additional input and I’m OK with non-organic whenever practical.
(in other words it’s totally fine with local even when non-organic)
