Recently, through unremitting efforts and multi-party cooperation, Shanghai Baoshan police successfully arrested Li, a fugitive from the 18 year murder case, on a fishing boat in a coastal city of Shandong.

On December 5, 2002, Li had a quarrel with sun, who contracted to clean up the garbage on the construction site of an industrial park in Baoshan District. After Lee in revenge, gathered Zhao, Zhang, shovel and other crime tools assaulted sun, causing sun a brain injury, died after rescue. After the incident, Zhao and Zhang were arrested by Baoshan police, while Li has been at large.

Over the past 18 years, Baoshan police have not given up the tracking of the criminal Li. In 2020, according to the deployment of the Ministry of public security’s “Yunjian 2020” and the action to tackle the backlog of homicide cases, Baoshan police studied and analyzed the case again.

At the time of the crime, Li was married and had a son with his wife. The investigators went to Li’s native Anhui for many times to carry out on-the-spot touch removal work on his related persons. After visiting Paimo, it was found that Li’s wife had been living alone in Anhui, where he came from, and his son rarely went home, and the neighbors didn’t know where he was going. It is reported that his son has been married in other places and drives a Shandong brand red car every time he goes home.

The Shandong brand red car attracted the attention of the investigators, so the investigators rushed to Shandong immediately. With the help of Shandong police, the trace of the car that often haunted a coastal city in Shandong was found. Investigators found that an older man sometimes appeared in the car, similar to the appearance and age of fugitive Li.

Baoshan police immediately dispatched capable police to carry out verification in a coastal city in Shandong for many times. However, after several peripheral investigations, the investigators did not find the trace of Li. The investigation work fell into an impasse. The investigators turned their attention to the red car of Lu K brand again. By checking a large number of road video surveillance, they found the appearance law of the suspected man, searched the line and found the trace of getting on the bus at a local fishery wharf.

In early November 2020, the investigators visited the fishery wharf. When the investigators identified the photos of the suspect Li to the wharf management personnel, the staff recognized Li at a glance. Investigators learned that the suspect Li had been fishing in the local area. At that time, he was in the fishing flood season. Li had gone with the ship to catch fish in the open sea. November 20 is the return day of local fishing boats going to sea and the day when Baoshan police close the net. With the help of the local police, on the same day, Baoshan police successfully arrested Li, a fugitive from the homicide case who had absconded for 18 years, on a fishing boat at the fishery wharf.

After interrogation, Li confessed to the crime of injuring and killing the victim sun in Baoshan, Shanghai on December 5, 2002. According to his account, he has been living along the coast of Shandong in recent years. In order to escape the pursuit of public security organs, he spent most of his time on fishing boats and made a living by fishing. At present, the suspect Lee has been arrested for intentional injury, and the case is under further trial.
