During renovations of an old subway tunnel, workers stumbled upon a rusted payphone bolted to the wall. It wasn’t connected to any lines, yet every night at 2:13 a.m., it rang.
Out of curiosity, Eli, the youngest worker, answered one evening. The voice on the other end was faint but desperate. “Don’t dig any further… you’ll wake it.”
He laughed it off, assuming it was a prank. But the next day, one of the workers vanished, leaving behind only his helmet—placed neatly beside the phone.
That night, the payphone rang again. This time, the voice whispered his name.
