Cycladic Venus is Artifact #1 from my PanelHaus Virtual Artist in Residency in Decentraland (the Voluptechne series), minting on a Transient Labs contract.
She started as a 3D scan of a marble female figure from the Neolithic period, 4500–4000 BCE, Cycladic, from the Aegean Sea, pulled from The Met's Open Source library. I retextured and repainted her by hand in Procreate, dragging a 6,500-year-old goddess through my own Damsel lens.
There's something that gets me about that lineage: someone carved this figure by hand before writing existed, The Met scanned it and set it free, and now I get to remix her and send her back out into the world for whoever connects with her to own. #cc0 energy all the way down.
