Fusaka mainnet upgrade scheduled for early November
Devnet-3 launching July 23, with EIP 7907 removed
ePBS and BALs likely to headline Glamsterdam
Developers aim to finalize Glamsterdam priorities in 2–4 weeks
Fusaka Upgrade:
Developers agreed on a proposed timeline for Fusaka’s mainnet launch in early November, with public testnet upgrades starting late September. To speed up testing, they removed EIP 7907, which proposed changes to smart contract code size limits. The next devnet (Devnet-3) is expected to launch July 23, including updates to EIP 7825 and pending decisions on the engine_getblob
API.
Glamsterdam Planning:
Client teams showed strong early support for making enshrined proposer-builder separation (ePBS) and block-level access lists (BALs) the main features of the next upgrade, Glamsterdam. A final decision is expected in 2–4 weeks, pending more community input.
Why this matters: These upgrades aim to improve scalability, censorship resistance, and the developer experience on Ethereum—impacting how builders deploy contracts and how users interact with the chain under high load.
July 22 – Decide on engine_getblob
API
July 23 – Launch Devnet-3
Late August – Release clients for public testnets
Sept 22 – Oct 3 – First testnet upgrade
Oct 6 – 10 – Second testnet upgrade
Nov 5 – 12 – Mainnet launch 🚀
Now – Start building ePBS + BALs
Next 2–4 weeks – Get feedback from Flashbots, L2s, and others
August 1 – Confirm upgrade features on next ACDE call
Testing updates for protocol changes were the focus, ensuring smooth deployment of upcoming Ethereum updates.
Why this matters: Guarantees reliable and seamless user experiences during network upgrades.
Action Items: Extensive testing and bug fixes for upcoming features.
Timeline: Ongoing through Q4 2025.
Ethereum Foundation researchers have introduced the "Glamsterdam Equation," a new method designed to improve Ethereum’s security by optimizing validator incentives. Simply put, this equation helps balance rewards and penalties for validators, ensuring network health and stability while deterring malicious activity.
Why this matters: Improves security for users and gives developers a clearer validator incentive structure.
Action Items: Formalize incentive structures and conduct simulations.
Timeline: Initial testing by Q4 2025.
Ethereum developers discussed updates to the state expiry roadmap, specifically addressing how to efficiently remove outdated or unused data (state). This helps Ethereum remain scalable by reducing the storage burden on validators and improving performance.
Why this matters: Users will enjoy faster transactions and lower network fees.
Action Items: Finalize implementation proposals and testnet deployments.
Timeline: Targeting rollout by mid-2026.
In recent SIC (Stateless Ethereum Implementation Call), developers focused on refining approaches to "stateless Ethereum," a technique designed to minimize Ethereum nodes' storage requirements. Stateless Ethereum allows nodes to operate with minimal data, significantly enhancing decentralization.
Why this matters: Users will experience greater network resilience and decentralization.
Action Items: Continue developing prototype nodes and optimize proof generation methods.
Timeline: Prototype evaluations ongoing through 2025.
New research proposes using Multi-Party Computation (MPC), TLS protocols, and Semaphore proofs to enhance privacy-preserving mechanisms against Sybil attacks, where fake identities flood networks.
Why this matters: Users' privacy and network integrity will be significantly improved.
Action Items: Develop protocol demonstrations.
Timeline: Protocol testing by early 2026.
FLUXE introduces a universal privacy protocol designed for cross-chain stablecoin payments, combining privacy and compliance.
Why this matters: Users can securely and privately transact across multiple blockchains.
Action Items: Cross-chain protocol integration tests.
Timeline: Integration testing throughout 2026.
Researchers discussed interoperability of post-quantum cryptographic signatures, focusing on future-proofing Ethereum against quantum computing threats.
Why this matters: Ensures long-term security for users against future quantum attacks.
Action Items: Develop and test interoperability standards.
Timeline: Initial standards proposal by late 2025.

I'm just sad I wouldn't be getting any 7907 🥹 Would have been a banger EIP
Yeah it would’ve been cool to keep it but there was just no way. There were too many unknowns remaining and testing needed to have any chance of meeting the goal of shipping Fusaka by November I think it was 100% the right call Need someone to champion it for a future fork!
Great, let me dig in!
Thanks! Always looking for feedback on how to make these better. So if you have any recommendations lmk!
Will do legend 🙌
Always appreciate these plain English updates, makes it easy to keep up with where Ethereum’s headed. Props to the devs for the steady progress. 🛠️
Thanks a ton!
