Thank you to
, Nathan Middleton, Sharon Johnson, David Todd McCarty, and A Palace Of Ideas for your submissions. You five were able to submit a story for the contest to be reviewed to win the top prize.
Instead of putting all five of you through another round when only two will make the finals and qualify for the cash prizes, I’ve decided that we will just select the final two from the submissions already entered and we will have a one-week final face-off between the two finalists.
The two finalists will be graded between now and the 24th by me and my other two Press Box judges,
and B A Little and we will have a winner announced before then.
I haven’t decided what the final topic will be yet but we will determine the 1st place ($75) and 2nd place ($25) prizes from whatever the final piece will be. The final round will start on November 24th and the submissions will be due and graded by December 1st, the same day we had planned to end the contest initially.
Despite the low turnout and interest, we still wanted to move the tournament forward somehow. I didn’t want to shortchange the people that participated in the event.
I’m not sure if we’re going to do another seasonal contest after we complete this one. The turnout for the last Spring Tournament was unprecedented. We already had to cancel the Summer Tournament and I was barely able to field the Fall Tournament.
If anyone wants to see another Spring Tournament, I’m going to have to get some sort of verbal commitment beforehand and enough interest to move forward. Otherwise, I do believe that this will be the last one. As I said already, we will announce our top two finalists on or before November 24th in preparation for the final round.
Stay tuned for more announcements and details. Thank you to this year’s Fall Tournament participants again. We definitely have a lot of work on our hands to review and rank these great letters.
