Dappled sunlight filters through the canopy of trees, falling on a winding stream that flows through the forest. Tiny water lilies drift along the current, like nomads wandering at the stream's will. They follow the meandering path laid out for them, unable to control their own direction.
Watching the water lilies today, I contemplate the parallels with our lives. We often feel helpless against the powerful currents that shape our fate. Life can seem aimless as we are swept along, powerless to choose our own course.
Yet the lilies also remind me of resilience. Despite the uncertainty, they continue floating, their blossoms open to the sun. Each day they bloom anew. Likewise, we can open ourselves to life's beauty amidst its fluctuations. Though we cannot dictate the stream, we can set our own spirit – adapting yet remaining true to who we are.
The lilies trust the stream to carry them, come what may. So may we find calm by surrendering to life's flow, anchored inwardly even while floating upon uncertainty. By opening with courage to each moment, we too can bloom again and again.
