FOAM Location Now Live on Base
We are excited to kick off the Onchain Summit today in San Francisco and announce that the FOAM Token, MVP, smart contracts, Hostel webapp and Zone anchors are now live on Base! Zones are being deployed onchain, starting with San Francisco ad Brooklyn. Users can Prove their Location by minting a Presence Claim over Radio with the Cycloid hardware wallet.Hostel on BaseThe first batch of Cycloids will be available for sale at the Onchain Summit with a general presale to follow. Stay tuned for t...

Open MVP & Zone Expansions
Further progress has been made on the FOAM Proof of Location MVP! Our recent update post shared a demo of the MVP process for proving location onchain using on our mobile app and a prototype user device. Today, the FOAM team is excited to share additional features that have been added to our MVP, as well as exciting updates on the plug-and-play radio (”Zone Anchor”) and user device (”Mobile Node”). https://mirror.xyz/foamspace.eth/4F1n7zjzXpcocWD82wpzfd27Ul9qFRCrulwO8URx5WM A reminder that th...

FOAM Trust Zone Program FAQ
The goal of the Trust Zone program is to have select partners run the FOAM protocol in different geographical environments and test different zone configurations. The selected participant partners will also assemble the current prototype of the Zone Anchor, secure a minimum of four locations for installation, run localization experiments and submit the results for evaluation. This is a beta testing program for early qualified stakeholders aligned with the mission of the protocol to contribute...

Two weeks ago at the Consensus Conference in Austin, TX we debuted new hardware, Cycloid, which enables Ethereum transactions over radio. Cycloid is the first FOAM end user hardware device to be made available for sale and use for Proof of Location. This post will take a first look at the platform and provide a waitlist at the end for the first batch of developer units.
In addition to sending Ethereum transactions over Radio, Cycloid is also an extensible hardware wallet that can sign messages directly, run applications and be used with the Cycloid Live desktop app and Walletconnect integration to securely and seamlessly manage assets. We know the future will entail enormous amounts of cryptographic attestations and signatures and wallets will play a key role. The release of the Cycloid user device is in conjunction with the FOAM Proof of Location MVP opening up on layer 2 and expanding, read more in our previous post below:

Cycloid is the latest version of the FOAM user mobile node, this time taking shape as a custom pcb and enclosure. While Cycloid can be used for FOAM Proof of Location it can also initiate Ethereum transactions sent over radio opening innovative and offline experiences to Ethereum with a next generation cold wallet. The pcb includes a STM32 microcontroller, a LoRa radio, buttons for navigation and a screen for menu systems and displaying NFTs.

Cycloid devices are able to be preconfigured to send smart contract message data, such as Ethereum, Optimism, or Base transaction data. Then Cycloid subsequently send the transaction data over radio to compatible gateways, which relay the transaction to the blockchain for a fee. Cycloid is meant for end users, but an additional example of this could be a sensor recognizing that goods have arrived at a port, signing and then forwarding the information over the air to a gateway that posts the transaction onchain, triggering a smart contract that automatically pays a supplier.
This version of the enclosure is 3D printed and designed to be lightweight and portable for everyday use, in addition to an intuitive user interface and OLED screen for navigation.

Cycloid Live is the desktop application that can be used for using Cycloid as a hardware wallet. Further, Cycloid Live is the hardware wallet command center for users where firmware can be flashed and updated, Ethereum transactions can be preconfigured for the radio and radio parameters can be configured.

The Cycloid hardware wallet embedded platform is written in Rust enabling developer integrations over radio. As an application platform it is extensible to additional applications unlocking new use cases for smart contracts interacting with the real world. The first developer units are currently under development to be made available this summer. If interested please join the waitlist below for prioritization!

FOAM is a Proof of Location technology for applications needing secure location services. It enables a handshake between the location service providers and the user, proving the user’s location. Terrestrial radios and time-of-flight algorithms are used to perform localizations, and digital signatures ensure the location data cannot be spoofed. The system is completely independent of satellite-based location services like GPS.
