I really love making music. Every session is so much fun that I don't regret every day I spend on my laptop. But often at some point I will be attacked by a wild perfectionist. At this point I start searching for the right sample/vst/etc and this search becomes endless. You lose the idea with which you started your track.
This dude is preventing me complete the track, and as a result, I kicked my track into the long grass.
On reflection, I understood. As longer I make a track, then closer perfectionist comes. Therefore, I need to look for ways to quickly throw in an idea and build track foundation. Then production will go much easier.
Don't get bogged down in mixing during production. Ideally mixing should be done in a separate project.
Put things in order in the folder with samples. Select your favorite samples and put them in a separate folder with quick access to it.
Put things in order in the folder with plugins. Organize everything by category.
Learn hotkeys of your DAW.
Set time limits.I underestimated it, but it turned out to be one of the important factors to complete the track.
Take breaks. Use the Pomodoro app, you will immediately feel productivity. Don't be afraid to take a break.
Give others listen to your track for feedback. Maybe your track is already cool, it just needs to be heard with clear ears.
Of course, perfectionism is the engine of progress. Because of this, we learn how to make something cool and unique. But sometimes in something, you don’t need to dig deep, you just need to take it and do it. I see it in other areas of my life. I have not done and do not do much, fearing to do something is not perfect. But it's better to take one bad step than not to take it at all :) I promise to work on it.
