Strategy Sells BTC, Erebor Bank Targeting $8B Valuation & Ripple Secures MiCA

Summary of the Week

Bitcoin gained roughly 4% over the past week to trade around $62K, despite reports that Strategy sold 3,588 BTC for approximately $216M. U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs extended their record streak to eight consecutive weeks of net outflows, although Thursday saw a strong inflow. CryptoQuant also noted that Bitcoin, Ether and altcoin deposits to exchanges have risen sharply, a pattern historically associated with increased market volatility.

Peter Thiel-backed Erebor Bank is reportedly targeting an $8B valuation after deposits nearly quadrupled. Ondo Finance introduced an SEC-aligned tokenized stock model with BlackRock ETF and Micron shares, while Aave's new Monad market surpassed $100M in deposits just two days after launch. Vitalik Buterin said Ethereum's next major rebuild could rival the Merge and take three to four years. Meanwhile, data showed nearly one million wallets are sitting on a combined $3.81B loss from Trump's memecoin, as President Trump defended his family's crypto earnings.

On the regulatory front, Ripple secured full MiCA CASP authorization, enabling crypto services across all 30 EEA countries. Spotify asked Kalshi and Polymarket to remove its branding after manipulated streams were used to settle music-related bets, while ESMA warned that some prediction market contracts may fall under the EU's binary options ban and therefore cannot be offered to retail investors.

Crypto Markets

Bitcoin continues to consolidate around the critical $60K to $62K support zone, with bulls and bears still battling for control.

  • BTC remains above the 2021 cycle highs, but has yet to produce a convincing breakout

  • Open interest remains elevated, indicating traders continue to actively position despite the lack of clear direction

  • RSI has recovered from oversold territory and is gradually improving, though momentum remains neutral

  • CVD is still positive across most major exchanges, suggesting spot buyers continue to absorb selling pressure despite recent volatility

The $60K to $62K region remains the key battleground. Holding this level would strengthen the case for a broader recovery, while losing it would increase the probability of another leg lower toward the $53K to $55K support zone.
