Hangry Animals
Welcome back to another exciting update on our game development journey of Hangry Animals. In this #8 instalment , we're focusing on Level 1 Alpha and all the strides we've made in its design and functionality.
We've introduced several new gameplay mechanics that offer a more engaging experience. From nuanced character controls to environmental puzzles and pickups, Level 1 is shaping up to provide an immersive gaming experience to satisfy even the hardcore gamers among us. Aliens go splat, points go up and the hi octane chase for survival with have your Hangry Animal on the edge of your seat.
In addition to the coding improvements, we’ve also tweaked the designs of our furry protagonists. These changes give each character a unique identity that aligns with their gameplay styles. More fluidity, more animation loops, cleaner toon shaded look as has been demonstrated last week in Hangry Andys Moose livestream work session. As well as the main heros, we've begun work behind the scenes on the new look for the Alien queen Lorak and her warrior drone creatures too. When it's time to reveal these enemies in their full glory we're gonna get so hyped for this. cx8x
Our graphics team has been hard at work polishing the visuals of Level 1. The level now boasts more vibrant colors, smooth transitions, and fluid animations that breathe life into our game world. Each character controller how has more moves at the players fingertips and aim, melee attack sequence combos that will make the gameplay and action more zany and enjoyable for all. We still have some work to do on refining the enemy rigs as the placeholder aliens aren't using a workable mixamo rig at the moment. We're aiming to introduce more creep and range swipe attached with the big claws of the temporary enemies in due course. There's some further work required as we begin to introduce range attack enemies into the mix to mix up the strategy for our players in how they approach clearing the levels into the future. With each enemy type being influenced by AI features to learn the player style, range detection variances and surprise attack animations, it's going to introduce an infinite amount of opportunities for challenging play, even in this playable demo end of Q1.
We appreciate your continued support and feedback on aspects of the game level design and characters. As we move through these development stages and modelling whilsts our dev gurus build out all the logic in tandem, we're nearing team to begin a dev vlog with the entire team and showcasing some in game features too. Our beta testing phase is just around the corner so stay tuned with your CHET pass to be able to login and parade around as CHET to experience the ONSLAUGHT of alien fiends to eliminate.
We're excited about the progress we've made on Level 1 of Hangry Animals to date. It's taken us a while to align the vision and ambition truthfully. But now we're motoring along.
