Science moves humanity forward. Today's science and the scientific industry, however, suffer from various problems: access to funding is too often slow, inefficient and corrupt, access to scientific knowledge is limited, scientists are often underpaid, and contributions by scientists and researchers are not adequately recognized and financially compensated. Interesting and controversial areas of scientific research frequently have a harder time securing funding for research, there’s too much censorship, and scientists often contribute without any financial compensation.
How - and whether - blockchain and web3 technologies can improve modern science and the process of scientific production?
DeSci seeks to use web3 and blockchain technologies, data storage protocols, smart contracts, tokenization, and more to solve some of science's biggest problems. Innovators in the field of decentralized science are currently addressing funding, publishing, incentive mechanisms, reproducibility, access issues, and many other topics.

Desci World: Belgrade / DeSci Belgrade is a two-day international crypto conference. DeSci leaders from all over the world will gather, share, discuss and ideate. Some of the most interesting projects in the space will be present and will share their work, ideas and experiences. Practical workshops and debates will be organized on a wide range of topics as well, from on-chain organizations and internal-first DAO collectives, to innovations in the field of law. The event is free to attend.
