This past month was a busy one for New York City! CryptoMondays NYC welcomed special guest Andrew Yang, a former candidate in the 2020 Democratic Party presidential primary.
Andrew gave us his take on political parties and Web3 as a solution for better coordination, governance, and democracy.
On a hot summer day in Midtown Manhattan, over 300 attendees packed the Margarittaville rooftop to have drinks, take a dip in the pool, and to talk about Web3 in classic CryptoMondays fashion!

CryptoMondys London drove in 70+ attendees as the UK based chapter welcomed Mason Edwards, Chief Commercial Officer of Tezos as the guest speaker, and Lou Kerner, founder of CryptoMondays as the host.
Mason is a serial entrepreneur who’s track record has touched blockchain, 3D printing, and biotech technology. He is also known for his contributions as a former Google Cloud Operations executive in the UK.
Mason and Lou dove deep into open-source technology and the impact of energy-efficient blockchains like Tezos.

On the West Coast of the United States, CryptoMondays LA kicked off the week with delicious tacos, drinks, and conversations around investing.

The regulatory climate for crypto is attracting more an more eyeballs. With a unique insight into the minds of law-makers and Wall Street, Dr. Martin Hiesboeck spoke about what might be in store during this crypto bear market from a regulatory perspective.
Uphold sponsored Dr Martin and team’s visit to CryptoMondays Zurich. They will also be sponsoring another visit to CryptoMondays NYC in the upcoming month!
Other chapter highlights:
A DAO is being formed to help CryptoMondays chapters all around the world with collaboration, onboarding of talent, and most importantly - to further the mission of bringing new people into Web3 through live events.
Decentralized Autonomous Orgnaizations (DAOs) have dated back to 2016 but have seemed to pick up traction in 2021. Communities use DAOs as a tool to - give more ownership of projects to people and to allow diverse skillsets to contribute to a shared mission with lower barriers to entry.
Here are some updates around CryptoMondays DAO:

Legal entities play an important role in the corporate and small business landscape. They are also playing an increasingly important role in DAOs and other forms of tokenized communities.
The regulatory grey area surrounding DAOs is becoming more transparent. Digital tokens can be considered securities depending on the context in which they are used and thus subject to securities regulations.
In order to keep up with regulatory landscape, the community behind the CryptoMondays DAO has decided that it would be in the DAO’s best interest to become a recognized legal entity ahead of it’s upcoming token launch.
CryptoMondays DAO will be launching a token late September. The initial distribution of this token will go to a mixture of the CryptoMondays community, chapter organizers, early founders, past contributors, and the DAO’s treasury.
Calling all chapter organizers! If you have consistently been organizing a CryptoMondays in any city, stay tuned for an initial token distribution for you and your chapter. More details will follow in next month’s edition!
