Audius is one of my favorite crypto consumer products. It was the first breakthrough music NFT project which spurred the growth of the whole sector. I have immense respect for pioneers. However, with being the first mover come some disadvantages as well.
To attract non-crypto users, they took the right step to build a mobile app but for some reason, the team is not keeping up with the releases. The android rating is at 2.5 which is a good summary of the bad performance.
For a product that is supposed to onboard new users into the blockchain, the governance framework cannot be vanilla. The recent US$ 6mn hack shows vulnerability in the system and also highlights the need for newer modules that aggressively encourages voting, has campaign programs around songs/artist, visually shows quadratic voting etc.
They need to diversify content across geographies and languages. Hosting music festivals, and establishing a physical presence in key music locations (say Goa in India - which is a hub for musicians in the S.E Asian space) is important.
Their interface is still amateur. The website needs a redesign to showcase product maturity for users who benchmark this platform to Spotify.
