** At the beginning of August 2025, I am still working on this and find it hard to add everyone back to my list of following. I still am not seeing everyone currently and have to say at this moment I’m going to add folxs back organically.

Lets start this off with ways to help get the most out of farcaster and make sure genuine interactions and engagments are seen and those who are being authentic you are able to find and create better experiences for everyone. ESP since there are so many ALT clients coming into play having each one in your toolkit for Farcaster The Protocol is super important. Here is the list of apps I use: Recaster, Farcaster, Base, Uno, and Cura. There are also many others too like Herocast, Super, Firefly, and I’m sure I am missing so many more that exist.

Base’s algo uses @mbd which "is a platform for everyone to build their own algos, it’s all about the end user first. Want it to be powerfull Personalization but also super easy to use by developers and soon by everyone!”

I have been talking about doing this for a while now and with the most recent changes to the ALGO I finally decided to see what was going on for myself.

Which I have documented before but will touch on again for reference if you are more interested to hear it from my POV please visit the Paragraph I put on chain in June 2024: From the Void to a Badge.

Just for a taste of my first experiences with this app. here are a few messages from my experience first joining farcaster with hope and energy

I have been part of farcaster since November 2023 back then I was so excited and was somehow trying to get involved. I even invited a few friends to join me in this new venture. YET when I was casting I was met only with animosity and made me feel so unwanted. I started by casting direct to the home feed and after learning about channels each time I would cast into one I was met with bullying and punished and kicked out of all of the ones I would try to engage with.

These little quirks have been around since the app started. If they want growth it needs to come from more than artifical boosting and treat all protocal users equal. Many of us have chosen to support the protocal and we would like to have some say and governance in the situation at hand.

After my hiatus I came back around the third season of Degen. I was so lost as we all are when coming into a platform that is constantly changing and moving at light speed. I wondered where the warp tipping went and why there was an iflux of constests requiring participation. Promising money for XYZ.

So I started participating. Completely unaware at first that my account if I didnt recieve engagement and continued to work on getting seen, connect, and rewarded for my works I would get penilized. Maked as spam and then get completely removed and placed into a SHADOWBANNED void. Unable to even reach a support system since NO ONE understood at that time when you got SHADOWBANNED your access to send messages to the Merkel team as well as anyone else who wasn’t mutual followers was taken away.

Even the channel I cofound was unable to see my casts. Anyone who didn’t follow me stopped seeing me.

This really makes me annoyed and perturbed that artists, folxs, and some of the best humans I know on the internet are leaving this platform left and right due to the algo pushing us down. Without artists continuing to advocate for each other and ourselves and countless others helping shape communities like the founding members of /wac I would have left months ago when I was stuck in the SHADOWBANNER void. I came back after a bad experience last year Nov/Dec 2023 where I had no idea what I did when channels came out to piss off a dev.

Then when I returned, it was a slow decay into the SHADOWBAN in APRIL to MAY. Who knows what I had done but all the sudden I was written off the face of the platform not seen by anyone screaming into the void.

How are we supposed to invite other users to this space when retention goes down each day?

I honestly think that there is something amazing about this space through all its faults and implore you to please look deeper on those who are working to make it better vs stomping on the creators here.

cast about rewards vs active followers yet if followers that are active are unable to see creator content from all those they follow then having an ACTIVE follower that has a good ranking and is choosing to follow someone else without seeing that users content it makes it a negitive mark against that user vs empowering them to continue to be prolific and part of this community and protocal

So with that in mind I took it upon myself to get more involved and study some of the the issues with the algorithm first hand. I am thankfully in a group of a few folxs that are gathering data and personal experiences to report. In the hope of implementing change.

Yet the propoganda of New Accounts thriving started to be played up by the whole merkle team so artifical boosting of select newbies was put into place over a month ago

algo feeds are basically mind control technology might unironically warrant some degree of regulation in its current state and is a vulnerability that should be addressed in the next iteration of online social

The only IDEAL outcome is that there IS abundance for all that if we continue to ask and do our best to stop resisting we can all thrive. As I constantly say you need to water from the roots since watering from the leaves or top will end up killing the plant. To stop feeling like tho I have moved out and worked for myself and others to be no longer shadow banned that even with all these “high verified” numbers that they system dishes out it means nothing. I spend hours making content, posting trying to engage with others and still I’m treading water. If I go with the flow and get taken under fighting for air. Yes I don’t know how to play their game here other than keeping my following count lower since I check three or more alt apps to make sure if someone is truly also trying like I am that they feel seen and heard.

PSA time to clean your followers meaning who you choose to follow. As we know, Farcaster shows us only a portion of what’s going on in casterland there are many other tools one can use to make sure engagement is a two-way street. One of my favorites as always is @recaster-fc. So make sure if you can get a bigger picture and zoom out. Trust me. You’ll be happy for it. Mind you I do use farcaster as my go to client. And honestly, I need to see if Coinbase wallet allows for more visibility and information there as well. I just need to get better at putting that one into my toolkit. Remember, even when the algorithm hides us, it is important for visibility trust circles, and growth here by making sure we are putting our energy in the right places if somebody unfollows you feel free to do it back if anything it might benefit both of y’all in your chances of getting into the algorithm and actually being seen.

All and all you can see this is something that has been going on for years and as things change I decided to take it into my own hands to try and understand waht is going on in the HOPES that we can make it better and stand up together.

I’m going to be refreshing all my following soon to see how the algo through removing who I follow. I have been talking about this for a while more than a few months and honestly the algo hasn't gotten better so now with this tag from @pichi I’m going to be just ripping off the bandaid. First of all I used this tool to document all 444 accounts I have previously kept as following

TBA I’m still slowly adding back those I have followed before or most of them unsure if I’m gonna add everyone back to be completely transparent. FYI TL:DR Having someone labeled as “trustworthy” follow you without ever engaging can actually hurt your visibility and ability to earn rewards on this protocol. If they’re active but not interacting with your posts, it signals low engagement — which works against you NOT for you. Please remember this has been an experiment of visibility even at a small scale. It’s been weird and disheartening at times. It’s extremely disconcerting that even at this small stage I’m still not seeing everyone that I am following currently. THIS TRULY WORRIES ME ABOUT THIS ALGO HERE ON FARCASTERS PROTOCOL.

The algo being changed is something that has been going on since this app has started. It seems at times that it is YES better than web2 yet at time it seems to be running into the the same issues that we are trying to move past.
