Everyone knows that education is in dire need of reform, but what's less known is that it needs nothing short of a full blown disruption.

Originally, education came from the word educe which means to unleash one's potential, but today, it does the opposite by punishing you for being different and saddling you with a parasitical debt burden.

Unfortunately, the solution isn't going to be reverting to the past, and that is because of AI. But the reason for this is most likely not what you would think.

Here's a graph that shows that AI is getting better and better. It's easy to imagine that soon AI will have perfect marks on these tests, but this says more about the tests rather than the AI. The reason why AI is doing better on these tests is because these tests measure for memorization and that is what AI is doing. An example of this is that self driving cars are constrained to certain locations rather than being deployed at a massive scale.

This is a problem because the thing that you're trained to do in school is memorization, and this is going to be automated away by AI. This is an even bigger problem for the current educational institutions as it blurs the difference between degree holders and AIs that can pass the test. The degree will start to become meaningless as more of the status flows to a small number of institutions, whose status comes from serving a small number of people. So then, the people that could fix the problem are incentivized not to. That is why it would be easier to build a new institution.
