We are kicking off the year strong with our dear $GAPE token’s launch, followed by a dive into the most hyped chain launch of the year; Abstract, and will finish off with a spotlight on Solayer’s airdrop, which all you Solana maxis will NOT want to miss out on, enjoy!

On December 26th, Lebanese crypto influencer “WKbeast” launched his 2nd coin on Solana; the ticker is $GAPE, which stands for Golden Ape. Walid gathered an impressive following for the account, with an audience which mainly consisted of non-crypto natives, which would have been a great thing, if the token wasn’t down 68% from the highs at the time of writing.

​Impressively enough, it would seem that no insider token dumping was happening in the background. The launch was somewhat successful, although shady with multiple wallets sniping the supply before the CA was even announced by Walid.

​The team could have done a better job, but hopefully they will make their fellow Lebanese investors whole. It would seem that the team is working on creating some sort of value for holders.

At its core I’m not quite sure while people bought into it, the whole thing felt very predatory and aimed at retail investors promising them the moon. It’s kind of sad seeing it all unfold, but hell, maybe at the end of the day, it’s about the cummunity we found along the way;

​Bottom line is, Walid's audience, which consisted mainly of non crypto natives, got introduced to crypto through a shady memecoin. Trading meme coins isn’t easy, and we wish Walid's reach was used for something more productive, especially in a country like Lebanon, where people could greatly benefit from blockchain technology.

​Abstract blockchain is an Ethereum layer-2 network designed to provide a seamless and consumer-focused blockchain experience. It focuses on simplifying the user experience by solving common issues like high fees, slow transaction, and complex wallet setups. Abstract aims to bring mainstream adoption through user-friendly interfaces and applications.

​With the current 78 Ethereum L2s currently active, do we really need another one? While usually the answer would be no, Abstract separates itself from the pack thanks to its core team at Igloo, as well as the institutions backing it up.

​Abstract is being launched by Igloo Inc, the parent company behind the popular NFT collection, Pudgy Penguins. This initiative is backed by significant funding, with notable investors such as Founders Fund, 1kx, and Fenbushi Capital contributing to its development.

​As you can see, their roster is stacked, and if we learned one thing in 2024, is that you can’t fade the pudgy team. With its Testnet already live, Abstract’s Mainnet is set to launch this month of January, where we are sure to see plenty of new dApps and fun ways to interact with the chain.

​While it's still early, Abstract is definitely not a chain that should be overlooked. Pudgy Penguin's team has a proven track record, and a world renowned IP, with their merch and toys being sold in massive retailers such as Walmart and Target.

​Sometimes, betting on builders is the best thing to do, and with the Igloo team behind it, Abstract is definitely a bet we are willing to take.

​Solana Maxis, rise up! Solayer is a restaking protocol built natively on the Solana blockchain. It's designed to enhance the security and efficiency of dApps within the Solana ecosystem by allowing SOL holders to restake their assets.
