"Everything is actually deeply meaningful. And we live in a time when almost nothing is. [Though it is not true] that things are meaningless, it is that we decided things are meaningless. And we are just wrong about that" ~ Christopher Ruocchio

This book is not objective or unbiased. Nor is it a one-size-fits-all.
I hold a belief that the human species is quite young in an evolutionary timeline. Granted, with nuclear arms and bioweapons, it doesn't take much imagination to consider we may destroy ourselves. Nonetheless, it serves human interests to remain optimistic on the species survival.
If we were to continue on and we hit dates that sound like science fiction novellas; where do we place the human race in the year 2026 AD?
We have specialized computers. We're breaking ground in consumer longevity. The internet has been around for decades. Artificial intelligence is being born.
Relative to the 1960s it feels like the human species has taken quantum leaps. Relative to the year 2437, we look like cavemen discovering a second form of fire.
This memoir was written after five years at the frontier of web(internet) technology and e-commerce. Pursuing questions related to where our species is situated relative to the 1960-2437 meme. How generations x, y, and z can take advantage of our times technology. What can be done now and soon thereafter.
☆
During those 20,000 hours a theory I now call The Seven Layers of Internet began to form.
At first humans built a geo-local civilization. Now we build a digi-global civilization. Thanks to the advancements in internet technology the theory can be simplified to:
First we had.. Initial internet from Tim Berners Lee (web1)
Then we had.. Social internet of the early 2000s-2010s (web2)
Now we're working on.. Verifiable internet of the late 2010s-present (crypto/web3)
With some beginning to work on.. Agentic internet (AI)
Then comes.. Extended internet (VR/XR/AR)
Then.. Biological internet (BCIs)
Until a.. Conscious internet (singularity/sensory-synchronization)
Seven layers of web technology. Pathways for the human race to dramatically influence our trajectory. This book deals with the third layer.
Winning Inside the Internet is discussing the implications of a digitized economy relative to the analog-only world. The prepubescent stage of social algorithms. How web technology is terraforming our species ability to coordinate globally. Plus, accounts from the frontier of the field and some insights gathered.
Beyond those topics are two theories regarding evolution of the third layer. How cultures can leap with technology and some speculations on how the next layer, artificial intelligence, can be a massive boon for the human race.
Winning Inside the Internet is a serial release. All chapters will be published on enrgy.me for those interested.
