“The limits of my language means the limits of my world.” ― Ludwig Wittgenstein
Successful crypto projects are concerned with social architecture over physical goods and services. First we build the roots of the community, when it is successful goods and services will fruitfully branch out from the source. If the environment is not successful, one way to tell will be the proliferation of short term pump and dumps, liquidity rugpulls, and bagholders in despair as sign of a social culture of greater fools where individuals are attempting to win over each other.
This is Gardening 101, you can't expect ripe tomatoes if you don't water the roots. Natural language metaphors are a a great way to understand how to apply wisdom to crypto culture. This language is the social nutrition that will provide the fertile ground for long term success. Wisdom is exactly what we are looking for to build long term success in our projects, we use the language of idealism to communicate wise intent.
Given the cultural landscape of success oscillates between optimistic horizons (WAGMI) and the graveyard of despair(it's so over), we require the use of the language of idealism to 'build the world' of a project; to build its future. We need to recognise that tokens represent a causal movement, something is "happening" in the digital space, it has a trajectory, it's going somewhere. Tokens were allocated, an event happened, a trajectory for the projects future has been established.

This is not a new suggestion, in fact we are already doing this in the negative form. Rugpulls, scams, bagholding; crypto culture has organically formed a language of negative idealism because naturally without strong visionary leadership projects eventually descend into short term self interest. We are looking to make a quick buck because we can't speak about the vision of what long term success clearly looks like. What is "happening" in this case is the quick failure of a project without a future; rugpull.
There's no objective science as to how to distribute tokens because the task is like distributing the essence of a projects social narrative. Important questions arise: Who is being responsible? who's doing the most important work, and how do we decide? Should the founder get the most? Are we ensuring we dignify the participants of the project in a way that they would want to contribute to its success?
Weighting up who deserves more, and when they should be unlocked can be a crude process. A wise distribution would assume participants have ideal intent, even if they don't it's an ideal to work towards. In that spirit, here are some fundamental principals that may help see Tokenomic Distribution with wise eyes:
Focus on the long term vision over short term self interest. In 2020 DeFi Summer planted the seeds of the protocol owned liquidity(POL) projects that led to the rebasing DAO phenomena. This tech is underrated as a great way to handle tokenomics by taking liquidity distribution out of the hands of a group of people and baking it into the rules of the project. This is a good way the public can trust a project has long term intent and vision, it's baked into the token distribution rules.
Project participants from Founders to Developers and Token Holders see themselves as part of a unity that work for the project ideal. It's not about rewarding an individual for work, we are all accumulating value in a long term trajectory if we have sincere intention in project participation.
Founders, Developers, Token Holders all have distinct roles and responsibilities to contribute to the success of the project. The reward for partaking in a project should be on the digital identity of the participant and paid out by the protocol.
Treat optimistic communication as ideal. Seeing the silver lining is an important skill in crypto project success. When we are in the middle of a bad news cycle, we need to have eyes fixed on the long term horizon to remedy incoming FUD. Conviction and certainty become key pillars to assisting paper hands participants weather the storm.
It could be a blind spot of a highly individualistic culture, but we need to remember the individuals in crypto projects are building communities, and these are the principals that contribute to community success. Success in this field is a joint venture, we win together, we loose together.
