About Sui Name Service Introducing the Sui Name Service (SuiNS). SuiNS is built as an open decentralized name service on the Sui blockchain. Our first product is the .sui domain name extension, allowing users to start building on-chain identities with Sui. Our goal is to build a fair and decentralized name service that is equally accessible to everyone and offers a unique experience. First, SuiNS has completed a pre-seed round of funding with participation from his Mysten Labs. First name services were centralized and used by a small number of individuals. In fact, they were centralized so they basically existed as a single file on your PC. However, namecoins are plagued by name squat and speculation, making blockchains of little use as name services.Recently, Ethereum Name Service and Unstoppable Domains have successfully built decentralized name services, but here at SuiNS It had a different focus than what is built on.
Built Different The SuiNS team does not want to build “just another name service” on top of “just another blockchain”. That's one of the main reasons I chose Sui. Sui's object model, motion language, processing speed, and near-instantaneous finality enable new applications and use cases never before possible. In our case, we researched existing platforms and found that most services use domain names as a generic term for their digital assets. It is partly used as a website, partly as a profile, mostly as a username. SuiNS is building a user-first naming service. We want to build for the next generation of users who use blockchain for online gaming. Identity .sui > I noticed early on that the name service was adopted as a blockchain username. With SuiNS, your .sui name is your identity. Whether it's a username, website, etc., it's what you represent. Favorites Further integration with our services (Wallets, NFT Marketplaces) will allow users to easily track their assets without fear of losing money due to fat fingers on complex wallet addresses. Object .move > To keep our focus, it made a lot of sense to simplify Sui's object for user and wallet addresses as well. Objects on Sui can now be identified by a simple .move extension instead of a long and complex 20-digit object ID. Same benefits as above apply. Finding and identifying objects in Sui becomes much easier. It also gives you an opportunity to start building an index of known and commonly used objects.
