On April 6, 2025, one user hitmonlee.eth spent just 5 ETH (~$10,000) on LobbyFi and acquired voting rights worth $6.5 million in Arbitrum DAO.
That's a 650x leverage on governance power.
Those votes decided who sits on Arbitrum's Oversight & Transparency Committee (OAT) the body responsible for holding the protocol accountable.
No code was broken. Everything happened within the rules. The system didn't get attacked. The system attacked itself.

The Hard Truth:
Decentralization is not just "voting on blockchain." It's an economic design where honest participation rewards must exceed manipulation rewards.
Until that equation changes DAOs are open ATMs for well-funded actors.
Arbitrum Foundation won't ban vote-buying unilaterally. The community must decide. That means you. That means me. That means every delegate reading this.
My Take as a DAO Governance Researcher:
This isn't an Arbitrum-only problem. Every token-weighted DAO Aave, Optimism, Lido, Uniswap carries the same risk.
The fix isn't a ban. It's better incentive architecture + active human oversight.
Researchers, delegates, and community members are the last line of defense before the next $10K changes everything.
What's your stance should DAOs ban vote markets, regulate them, or compete with them?
