365 challenges are hard, which is why I am making this one a sorta-365 challenge, as I have no doubts I can share 365 photos, I've got tens of thousands in my archives and I've taken hundreds recently but I really want to narrow down to my best images here, the ones that follow a narrative I've set myself to navigate. Simplicity is the key, if an image is too complex, has too many distractions, it goes in the "bin".
Today's photo was one that I took whilst we explored the Santa Maria area of Funchal, part of it's Zona Velho ("Old Town") and there will be more from this area in future posts, I want to mix things up a bit. Rua Santa Maria is a street that starts at the top of a hill and cascades down to the cable car in the heart of the city. It's famous for it's brightly painted buildings and street art. There are numerous restaurants along this street and on this particular morning, the light and shadow captivated my imagination, there were photographic ideas leaping at me from various angles.
