Zhang Changning responded to the suggestions of the two sessions and questioned that it was intended to strengthen the physique of teenagers

On March 6, Beijing time, Zhang Changning, the Olympic champion of women’s volleyball team, issued a document through personal social media to explain the doubts raised by his suggestions in the two sessions. She said that her intention was to strengthen the physical health of teenagers, not to increase the burden of exams, nor did she mean to pay more attention to sports than culture.

As a deputy to the National People’s Congress, Zhang Changning brought a proposal on strengthening the physical health of teenagers and promoting the cultivation of reserve talents in competitive sports at the fifth session of the 13th National People’s Congress. Some of them mentioned that we should give full play to the leverage of examination, seize the breakthrough point of physical education academic level test, increase physical education examination in the provincial unified examination of academic level qualification test of ordinary high school, and take the results as the reference basis for college admission.

Zhang Changning’s remarks raised questions from netizens and were considered to increase the test burden of teenagers. In this regard, Zhang Changning made an explanation through a long text posted on his microblog. The complete content is shown in the figure below:

Zhang Changning also expressed his attitude towards the criticism caused by some contents of the proposal in his personal microblog comments. She wrote in her message: “I understand those who are biased against me, but this is a serious matter for the physical and mental health development of teenagers. I hope you don’t deny it completely just because it’s from my mouth. Thank you for your support for the future development of the motherland. It’s normal to disagree. Everyone has everyone’s ideas. It’s OK to talk about the matter. Making suggestions is for everyone to discuss, just hope Everyone pays attention to the event itself. Thank you. “ (Caucasus)
