The tip allowance curve has changed, benefiting older and larger accounts
Only reactions to casts that were casted at most 8 days ago will now be considered
Daily tip allowance is now capped at 5 million DEGEN across all eligible donors
Specially guaranteed tips for perl, paybot, casterbites, ethXY have been eliminated - all users now have the same tip allowance rules apply to them
Expanded the section explaining Median Reactions with additional detail
Added a section about the impact of Storage on your allowance (TL;DR it's critical)

The curve has changed. Accounts with a 2x (22 days) and 3x (307 days) retroactive boost and more reactions benefit the most from this change. In this image, the green line is the season 4 curve, and the dotted red line is the season 3 curve.
Tip allowances are now scaled down from this curve, such that the total tip allowance across all users is limited to 5 million DEGEN per day.
Only reactions to casts that were cast at most 8 days ago will now be considered, and the date of the cast is used to build the median reactions data. Previously, the rule was any reaction made in the past 8 days would count, and the reaction date was used to build the median reactions data.
This rule change is potentially problematic in light of the newly implemented tip scaling, because the historical tip allowances can now "change" as new reactions come in for older casts:
When one user's allowance increases, because of the new 5 million daily cap rule, the allowance of other users must go down. Since the allowances snapshot is captured once at the end of the month, this means tips that were valid on the day could retroactively end up being invalid. That being said, the tipping logic also includes a 50% safety margin, so perhaps this may not be a problem.

a. d. For a): Haven't published a book with a traditional press as sole author, but I've done developmental editing for a nonfiction anthology and also contributed an essay to it. It was then published through a traditional press. So... sort of? For d): I've published "literary NFTs" in the form of essays.

Great answer, Mark - and that's one of the things that excites me, too! I remember being "in" during the early days of KDP, Smashwords, etc - then having to focus on my military career for the next decade. So just to experiment I’ve been extremely active last 2 days, overall my casts got 300 + reactions However allowance decreased for 40 degen each day So I wonder, how’s degen allowance is working now because decreasing while doing hard work feels unusual 👁️👁️🎩

As I understood it is important not only the activity of our audience, but also that they should be exclusive people. Also has an influence when were our first casts (which means that we should always keep an eye on our vault) and something else, I need to honor a couple more times

nope, scroll through my page and see how many reactions ive got yesterday and be surprised that allo went from 640 to 601 today hmmm
well yeah so i really think they put some new rules in the allowance and so it decrease little by little no matter what because i checked friends allo on dune and everyone got reduced. there is probably a reason, i would love to know 😆

And I don’t have the article but I did read somewhere that certain channels get more “preference”, like it’s preferred to be active in those channels. Off the top of my head it was /degen /zora /founders /design /frames and others that are more builder based
Ok /product /farcasther /base were others (i favourite them so I can keep track) So you should cast often, comment, like, recast and engage in those channels like crazy😂 Then you can get to a good place
I think the issues with us creatives is that we are not active in those channels too much… so our engagement doesn’t really count in the grand scheme of things

The new ALGO for DEGEN sucks! Rewarding the huge accounts with more and more meanwhile the blue collar artist gets the smack down. Not sure who thought this was a good idea but not only is it going to cripple interest in DEGEN its also gonna make people lose interest in Farcaster. Ill go back to hiding in the shadows
* is that really the algorithm? I thought it was everyone got like 90% drop in allocation * so if you were a big account previously getting 10k, you're now still getting 1k... which is still a lot of DEGEN
Don't know since there is no official explanation, and if there is it isn't pinned or placed where a normal person would look. best we have is speculation from an unofficial source. I went from 10K to just over 200 now over 2 or 3 weeks and it keeps going down. Seems broke to me.

I get maybe the allowance has to shrink so we aren't just printing money but I still see many with 10K allowances. Seems odd to go from 10K to 200 or below with no increase for over a week being active.

Yea know what you mean. It opens a window I think for other community coins to take the lead .... but, I also see Farcaster/Warpcast and Degen as 2 separate things, so I wouldn't give up on the former I think
I havnt given up, but I def see less and less activity here over the last month. What happens on DEGEN directly effects Farcaster whether we like it or not. It's partly why the huge influx of people happened over the last couple months. The lack of excitement over the last airdrop should be telling people something.

Ive been working harder and harder over the last two weeks to increase my allowance however it constantly drops. Eventually we'll all just get sick of trying. With no official pinned casts on why or how this is happening I don't see good things to come. I love it here but with no interest it will become Bluesky quick.
