The story behind rugged cats started when I bought my first nft.

Truth be told, I got rugged when I bought my first nft. It got delisted from OpenSea and the whole project turned out to be a scam. How would I know this space can be so intriguing and be such a mess at the same time.

I decided that in this mysterious space, there are only two types of people: rugger, people who rug others; and the rugged, the ones who fall for scams. It’s overgeneralization, but to some extent, it’s true. So I wondered, why would I wait to be rugged, instead of taking the initiative to be a rugger? lol brutal honesty here.

That was the start of my web 3 journey. Looking back, it was a great lesson, a funny story, and a wonderful beginning of my indie maker journey.

I dreamed about being a maker years ago after my trip in SEA, where I met a group of digital nomads. But I never knew where to start. Then this nft project idea came unexpectedly, and brought me down a new path.

As this is my very first solo project, I wanted it to be authentic and playful, with my fav elements: cat, music and dance.

This rugged cats nft collection includes 1000 nfts. They are five cats who are best buds - gypsy, willie, peggy, smoky, and janie. Each one has their unique personalities. Music and dance are their common language.

And why “rugged cats”? I believe that we are or we will be all rugged in some way at some point in this space. It’s part of people’s web3 identity. rugged cats is also created in the hope that we can build a rugless place with care, in which we can support each other. That’s also what I learnt along the journey, as I received a lot of kind help from my friends.

rugged cats is deployed on Polygon. Why did I choose Polygon over Etherem? As I am rugged, not got lots of coins in my wallet. So the choice is obvious. You know what, the gas fee on Polygon is so so low that it almost made me feel rich again lol.

rugged cats is made for the rugged only. Adopt a cat and get on board :)
