There once was a town, hidden deep in the forest. A Shroomtown to be precise. Thousands of mushrooms unknown to science grew there. They had unusual stems and fancy caps, never seen by anyone.
Once in a while, the Shroomtown was visited by a very old mushroom. They say he lived at the foot of the mountain for a hundred years. Mushrooms never knew his name, so they called him the Elder. He helped the shrooms in a village and taught them songs from the lands far away. In exchange, mushrooms helped him study the forest. They collected unusual plants and looked for rare animals.
One day the Elder told the mushrooms about a wonderful magic tree. It grew in the wide meadow deep in the forest. The tree was 300 feet tall and its branches were big enough to shadow the entire village.
Every 100 years this tree can bloom with magic fruits, but in order for this to happen - an immense amount of positive energy should be released near the tree. The Elder came up with a clever plan: every shroom will hold hands with his neighbors and they will spin in a huge roundelay around the Fruit Tree to release the great power of unity
The news in the magic forest spread fast. Soon enough, a tale of the Fruit Tree reached the Wizard that lived in the castle atop the mountain. He once heard that the fruits of the great Fruit Tree can grant the owner outstanding magic powers. The Wizard came to the shroom village and asked the mushrooms to not hold their hands. He promised to reward such mushrooms with magic rugpollen.
Little do the shrooms know, that once the Fruit Tree will bloom, the magic fruits will drop only to those who hold onto their neighbors and the rest of the fruits will be snatched by a wizard.
In Shroomelay we took a slightly different approach to NFTs philosophy. Every single token is a part of the bigger picture. The rare traits are not fancy clothes or laser-shooting eyes. What makes your token rare or valuable are your shroom-neighbors. All the mushrooms form a huge roundelay of 5555 tokens where every shroom might be holding up to two others 🤝
Each art depicts a single mushroom composed of over 150 different traits drawn by hand and inspired by neural nets (e.g. Stable Diffusion). However, each token can be linked with its left, right, or both neighbors. This action also changes the art, adding your neighbor’s shroom to the pic.
At the mint time, none of the mushrooms will hold any neighbors. You can link your token with the next and the previous ones. E.g. if you hold mushroom #42, you can link it to #41 on your left and #43 on your right. The shrooms ordering is cycled, so if you hold the token #1, your left neighbor will be #5555 and vice versa.
The linking process requires the communication of holders by design. That’s why once you authorize your wallet in the Shroomelay Discord server, the chat with your shroomchain neighbors will be created. It will be just the three of us there (the holder of the shroom to your left, the holder of the shroom to your right, and yourself).
Each shroom holder can learn a magic word on our website by connecting their wallet and signing a special string. They can later tell this word to their neighbors in the Discord chat. Knowing the shroom’s magic word will allow your fellow mushrooms to link your token. Once this is done, both your art and the art of your neighbor will be changed by adding a corresponding shroom.
