I’ve always loved revisiting my past work: remixing, reinventing, and seeing where a melody can take me. Lazy Days is the first time I’ve expanded one piece into an entire EP. The piece in question is Easy Goin’, a laid-back instrumental from Moods and Modes Vol. II (2019). That track captured a mood I wanted to explore further: the idea of slowing down, savoring the moment, and embracing the luxury of taking it easy.
Sadly, my own life is anything but slow. Maybe that’s why I’m drawn to this kind of theme. There’s something nostalgic (almost utopian?) thinking about when we were young and we had time to spare or throw away. Did such a time ever exist? Anyway, we all deserve moments of ease, even if we have to carve them out ourselves.
Musically, the EP spans different moods. There’s swing jazz and easy listening, but also downtempo, ambient, and even an electro-swing track. It also marks a first for me: my first songs with vocals, featuring Clara Monroe. I’ve enjoyed working in this expanded EP format, and I plan to revisit other tracks from Moods and Modes Vol. II in the same way.
The world is a chaotic place. Sometimes, the simplest things (music, a quiet evening, a good conversation) can be a form of resistance. Lazy Days is my small tribute to that.
Lazy Days is available on every streaming platform, on Youtube, and as a digital download on Bandcamp. Digital collectibles are on their way. Here's what you'll find inside:
Lazy Days - A gentle downtempo piano ballad that invites you to slow down and savor the moment. It should feel like a deep breath in the middle of a busy day. It's a piece that reminds us of the beauty of taking things slow, even when life doesn’t always allow it.
Easy Does It - A lighthearted jazz instrumental with an easygoing swing and a playful touch. Sometimes the best things in life happen when we stop trying too hard.
Easy Does It (feat. Clara Monroe) - he vocal version of Easy Does It, featuring Clara Monroe’s rich, velvety voice. The lyrics celebrate the art of taking life as it comes, it’s like an old friend reminding you to slow down and enjoy the ride.
Gatsby Groove - A lively swing jazz piece inspired by the golden age of jazz. A little indulgence never hurt anyone.
Just Like That - A smooth vocal jazz tune about those moments when life, love, and emotions just seem to fall into place.
Just Like That (Electro Mix) - A reimagining of Just Like That with a pulsing electro swing beat and a sax infectious groove.
Lazy Nights - An atmospheric ambient piece with a dreamy, nocturnal mood. The solo piano coda at the end should serve as a gentle farewell, like the last note of a long, peaceful evening.
