Sound of Fractures
I wanted to take a moment to tell you how it came to be, because like most of my work lately, it wasn’t just a song — it was a spark. Something that kicked off the start of a whole new world.
I created Vibe Coding while taking part in the FWB Creative Coding cohort earlier this year. We were encouraged to explore new ways of making and sharing creative work — and for me, it unlocked something I didn’t realise I was holding back.
At the time, I’d been feeling stuck. After putting so much of myself into SCENES, everything I made afterwards felt flat. I couldn’t feel the meaning behind the sounds. But while writing a blog post during the cohort about the phrase vibe coding, I realised it described something bigger than a technique — it was a way of approaching music again with feeling, and as a combination of words felt like a poetic way or describing human relationships.
So I opened up a lo-fi house sketch I’d been messing with and started building melodies around that energy. The result was Vibe Coding, the first track that felt like it had some depth again. Something I could follow. Something that might lead me somewhere.
That track became the seed for my new EP Alone Together, which is coming later this year. I’ve always been drawn to ideas that connect the emotional with the technological — and this project is no different.
When the full EP drops, it’ll come with a new app I’ve built — also called Alone Together. The app invites listeners to leave voice notes of personal memories, which are then blended into the music, creating a custom version of the track where you become part of the sound. Just like in SCENES, it’s a way of turning memories into music — and letting the songs live and evolve through you.
But before all that happens, this drop marks the beginning. Vibe Coding is only available during the week of FWB Fest — a kind of soft launch for this whole new chapter. If you’ve been following my work, or if you’re just curious about music that invites participation instead of just consumption, I’d love for you to collect it.
You can collect Vibe Coding on BASE via Manifold right now. It’ll only be live during FWB Fest week, and it won’t be on streaming platforms (at least not yet). This is for the early supporters, the community builders, the ones who believe that music can still be something more than background noise.
More soon — thanks for being part of this.
